Diablo 2: Resurrected has finally been released so players can jump back into the classic action RPG to slay hordes of demons and collect all of the loot they can dream of. The game has been well received, with newcomers and fans of the series alike coming together to go through the game's story to try and stop the titular Diablo from destroying the mortal realm as one of seven distinct classes.

However, after Diablo 2: Resurrected's story is completed players can jump into the game's endgame, which has kept fans of the original playing for years leading up to the remasters release this year. The remaster's endgame offers players both PvE and PvP content to chase new gear, but some players who want to get invested in the endgame may have a hard time picking which of the game's classes to level up and build. Every class in Diablo 2 has builds that can succeed during the endgame, but there are three particular classes featuring builds that make sure players will be able to conquer Diablo 2: Resurrected's hardest difficulty and most punishing challenges.

Updated on February 15th, 2022 by Hodey Johns: Those who are serious about Diablo 2: Resurrected will be spending hundreds of hours in the endgame. The leveling journey is an adventure, much more in this game than modern leveling games, but it is still a finite journey compared to the endgame, which has virtually no end. So it stands to reason that if players are going to be picking a class that will stay relevant for the long haul, they'll want to pick one of the best. This list has been updated with a more extensive explanation of why each class is considered the best in the endgame. All classes can potentially work, but these are the ones with the most upside.

Paladin

It's not too simple to suggest that the Paladin is the best late-game class in Diablo 2: Resurrected without much argument. This widespread recognition has popped up for one sole reason; the Hammerdin build can take care of any monster in any quantity.

No class has the ability to tank damage against the game's most elite bosses. It's all about dishing out damage before attackers can get in close. Since the Paladin can cover his entire light radius with Blessed Hammers, nothing can survive up close after he gets fully geared.

Sorceress

Among the top-tier players who love Diablo 2: Resurrected, they'll all have one character in common. Why does everybody have a perfect lightning sorceress build if they want to show the community they are serious about the game?

Frankly, it's the fastest clearing class in the game after she gets the gear she needs. Since the endgame means farming gear and runes, it stands to reason that the class that does that most efficiently is also the best. The community can disagree about their favorite class, but there is certainly a consensus about who takes down the endgame content quickest.

Necromancer

When it comes to cutting through immunities, nobody can touch on what the Necromancer does. Only one other class can partially cut into immunities (the Paladin). The Necromancer is the sole class that can completely delete immunities, both magical and physical.

As if that weren't enough, the Corpse Explosion spell deals damage based on overall monster health. The stronger the are, the harder he hits. The Necromancer has no issue adjusting when the difficulty scales up as the biggest issues, immunities and stronger monsters, don't even phase him.

Diablo 2: Resurrected is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
