As players work through Diablo 2: Resurrected for the first time they may find a few quests with vague instructions or limited guidance. Players who are working through the experience for the first time or who haven’t played the original in two decades (and are enjoying that Legacy graphics toggle) shouldn’t feel bad about tracking down a walkthrough or two.

During Act I of Diablo 2: Resurrected, the first handful of quests will have players running around the starting areas as they prepare to find and rescue Deckard Cain. One of the final tasks in that chain requires players to activate the Cairn Stones. This should be fairly easy once players have completed the prerequisite quest of visiting the Inifuss Tree and obtaining its scroll.

Once the Scroll of Inifuss is in hand and has been interpreted by Akara back at the Rogue Encampment, players will set off towards the Cairn Stones. They should be fairly easy to find my roaming around the Stony Fields.

How to Activate the Cairn Stones

  • Kill any nearby enemies surrounding the Cairn Stones
  • Open the Inventory and click on the Scroll of Inifuss.
  • This will cause the scroll to appear on the left-hand side of the screen. The animation will reveal the order that the Stones need to be interacted in.
  • Click on each Cairn Stone in the numerical order revealed on the left-hand side of the screen.
  • Once the right sequence has been selected the stones open a red portal to Tristram.
  • Follow the portal to complete the next phase of the quest.

At this point, players are moving pretty far along through Act I and only have a few quests left to go. If players are having trouble finding the Cairn Stones, just keep the automap feature on and explore any unidentified parts of the map that fall within the Stony Fields.
