9 Vergil's Nelo Angelo Name Is A Mistranslation

From there, Dante had to fight against a boss that seemed to be his equal in every way possible. However, Dante eventually defeated Nelo Angelo and Vergil wouldn't appear again until Devil May Cry 5. However, an interesting tidbit is that his actual name is a mistransliteration to Nero Angelo which means Black Angel in Italian.

This is partly because the weapon has the ability to cut through dimensions. This means that the sword is virtually capable of cutting through virtually anything. It is so powerful that it is even capable of splitting the human and demon sides of Vergil.

4 Dante's Rebellion Focuses On Fusion

In contrast to Yamato which was based on a Japanese katana, Dante's rebellion looks more like a broadsword and is a manifestation of Dante's power. Although players have seen the character grow more and more over time, they never fully understood what Rebellion really was until the fifth game. Here it is revealed that Dante's Rebellion fuses the demon and human traits together. Which granted Dante access to his Sin Devil Trigger.

3 Vergil's Sword Style Is Based On Iaido

Unlike Dante who utilizes a more free-forming and energetic fighting style, through which the player is able to switch on the fly, Vergil's is far more controlled and calculated. With singular strikes that are distinctively fast, he is a fast of utilizing a quick-draw technique where he takes out the sword really fast and sheaths it afterwards. This is a reference and is inspired by the real-life sword martial art of Iaido.

1 Vergil's "The Alpha And The Omega" Title Is A Reference To His Status In The Series

When Vergil made his full return in Devil May Cry 5,  his title was referred to as the alpha and the omega. Both of which represents the beginning and the end of the Greek alphabet. This is supposed to signify Vergil's role as an antagonist throughout the series.
