Microsoft has been aggressive about making sure its Xbox Game Pass subscription service is fully stocked with a wide variety of games, sometimes even brand new releases. It has also bundled Game Pass with Gold to create Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, offering even more value and letting players download over 100 titles across PC and Xbox One. Now it appears as though Xbox Game Pass will be getting one of 2019's biggest games, if promotional art appearing on the Xbox Store is any indication.

First spotted by Reddit user PrzmQ, who took a picture and shared it on the forum, it appears as though Devil May Cry 5 will soon be coming to Game Pass. Devil May Cry 5 launched just months ago in March of this year, and it earned widespread critical acclaim to become one of the top-rated games of 2019 so far. Needless to say, offering Devil May Cry 5 as a free download to Game Pass subscribers would be a huge "get" for the service.

Other users reported that they were also able to see the Devil May Cry 5 Xbox Game Pass advertisement on their Xbox One consoles. We didn't see it in our own testing, but there is enough anecdotal evidence to confirm that it was popping up for at least some Xbox users. Now whether or not this was simply an error on Microsoft's part or a legitimate leak is up for debate.

The timing of the Devil May Cry 5 Xbox Game Pass ad may offer a hint as to when an official announcement will be coming, assuming that the game is in fact in the pipeline for Game Pass. As it turns out, Gamescom 2019 is taking place later this month, and Microsoft will have a presence at the event. Microsoft will be hosting a special Inside Xbox presentation for Gamescom, and it's possible that the Devil May Cry 5 Xbox Game Pass announcement could happen then.

Of course, fans should keep their expectations in check. It's quite possible that this was just an error by the storefront and that the art for a different game was meant to go in the "Now available on Game Pass" box. We'll just have to wait for Microsoft to offer some clarification to be sure one way or another.

Devil May Cry 5 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
