Dataminers have been busy digging through Devil May Cry 5's PC files, and they have potentially found some future content that's in store for the game. This includes a fourth playable character joining Dante, Nero, and V, but to discuss who exactly that character is, we will have to get into MAJOR SPOILER territory for Devil May Cry 5. So anyone who has yet to complete the game's story should proceed with caution.

Dataminers have discovered evidence that Dante's brother Vergil is coming to Devil May Cry 5 as a playable character. Considering the franchise's lore, those that have yet to finish Devil May Cry 5's story may be a bit confused as to how Vergil can be included in the game as a playable character since he was previously believed to be dead, but there's an explanation.

During the events of Devil May Cry 5, Vergil is reborn after V (his human form) and Urizen (his demon form) merge back together. Effectively, this means that Vergil is once again a major part of the Devil May Cry story and will potentially appear in future installments of the franchise. In the meantime, it certainly seems as though Vergil will be coming to Devil May Cry 5 as a playable character, but not necessarily in the story missions.

While Capcom may make Vergil playable in the story missions of the game, a more likely scenario is that the character will be exclusive to the Bloody Palace mode, which will be added to Devil May Cry 5 as a free update in April. Capcom hasn't shared any details on what the Bloody Palace will entail, but the same datamining efforts that leaked Vergil as a playable character have also found evidence that it will feature multiplayer of some kind.

In the meantime, there is even more evidence that Devil May Cry 5 is adding Vergil as a playable character. The stuntman who plays Vergil in the Devil May Cry games, Daniel Southworth, has posted a picture of the character on his Facebook page, leading to speculation that he is teasing Vergil's addition to the roster of playable characters.

With Devil May Cry 5's free Bloody Palace update coming in April, fans shouldn't have to wait too much longer to find out if Vergil is coming along as a new playable character or not.

Devil May Cry 5 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
