For the past year, Capcom has been releasing titles from the original Devil May Cry trilogy on the Nintendo Switch, with the final one set to be Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. Both Devil May Cry 1 and Devil May Cry 2 have been ported to the Switch, and the third installment will come out next month. The game’s release coincides with the inauguration of a new Capcom Store in Japan, where fans will find unique Devil May Cry tie-in items.

Devil May Cry 3 is one of the highest-rated games in the series and serves as a prequel to the original Devil May Cry with a younger, less experienced Dante taking on his twin brother, Vergil. Devil May Cry 3 also introduces Dante's style switch system, which grants him different fighting styles depending on the style players choose. The styles include Trickster, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, and Royal Guard, with each style focusing on one or two of Dante’s abilities. Players can also unlock two new styles later in the game, which are Quicksilver and Doppelganger.

Previously, in the original Devil May Cry 3 on PS2 and the HD Collection version of the game, players had to choose Dante’s style before starting a mission and had to stick to it until either they die or restart the mission to select a new style. However, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition on Nintendo Switch will have a brand new Style Change system that allows players to change Dante’s fighting style on the fly, which allows for more flashy combos as players can switch between different styles mid-combo.

This new change has been revealed in a recent gameplay screenshot, which shows a new UI feature in the top-left of the screen that displays the chosen style. This UI feature matches the way both Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 5 handled style switching in-game. This will be an exclusive feature for the Nintendo Switch port of the game, along with a slew of other new features. The new style switching system will definitely allow players to perform SSS-tier combos without any problem at all.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition will be available on February 20, 2020, Nintendo Switch, as a digital download only.
