Square Enix’s latest trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, a ‘101’ introductory video, is paired with plans for both a digital and retail Collector’s Edition.
After a lengthy period of silence from Square Enix regarding Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which is understandable given the big delay, the action RPG is back with plenty to show today. The August release received a brand new trailer titled “101,” and Square Enix shared more about the various retail and digital editions that will be available at launch. That includes a big $140 Collector’s Edition for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Regarding Deus Ex: Mankind Divided‘s big delay, it’s been nearly six months since the game was pushed back. That likely explains why marketing for the RPG is picking back up, as the game is now presumably on its original marketing schedule. That being said, with E3 coming up in June, a bit of additional marketing is necessary, and likely beneficial considering how big the event is.
Part of that build up to E3 includes trailers like today’s Deus Ex: Mankind Divided‘s “101” trailer. Yes, there’s plenty of new footage to be found in the 6-minute long video, but the bulk of the material is content that has been shown previously — from before the game’s six month delay. For instance, the gameplay climbing the tower to get Talos Rucker has been shown publicly several times. Taking that into account, it’s safe to say this trailer is meant to reintroduce players to the game after Deus Ex: Mankind Divided marketing went quiet for such a long time.
Old material or new, the 101 trailer is sure to delight fans. It’s packed full of information regarding Deus Ex: Mankind Divided‘s story, setting, and gameplay, even going into detail regarding many of the game’s new features that have been added since Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Adam Jensen alone looks like he’s gone through a transformation; he looks older, more experienced, and also a little more frightening. If Eidos Montreal was aiming to make it clear that Adam is not quite human in more subtle ways than robot arms, then they’ve succeeded.
Square Enix also announced/reconfirmed all of the retail and digital editions of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided alongside the release of the trailer. There are two retail editions, Day One and Collector’s, and two digital editions, Standard and Deluxe. Note that there appears to be no PC boxed editions:
- Retail (PS4, XB1)
- Day One Edition ($59.99) – Extra in-game mission; Cover Agent DLC Pack; Digital OST Sampler; Digital Books (Artbook, Novella, Comic)
- Collector’s Edition ($139.99) – Day One Edition; Black & Gold Prism Box; 9″ Adam Jensen Figure; 48-Page Titan Art Book; Steelbook
- Digital (PS4, XB1, PC)
- Standard Edition ($59.99) – Same digital content as Day One Edition
- Deluxe Edition ($89.99) – Standard Edition; Season Pass
Sadly, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is still slated for an August launch, so fans are still left waiting a while. Yet, with Square Enix starting marketing over a month prior to E3, Deus Ex fans can almost certainly rest easy in knowing that the game will be shown in a big way. Plus, that’s plenty of time to go back and play Deus Ex: Human Revolution, or even the original Deus Ex – to which Human Revolution and Mankind Divided are prequels.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One starting August 23.
