The original Deus Ex was one of the most well respected PC games of its era. The title, which offered gamers a rare choice over how to carry out the missions available, became a hit due to its in-depth cyberpunk world and hacking-based gameplay. Although the title originally started off life as a very different beast, Deus Ex has gone on to become an iconic series for the discerning gamer.
After the mixed fan reception to Deus Ex: Invisible War, the franchise had a triumphant return with Deus Ex: Human Revolution in 2011. Although some may have criticized the title for its action-heavy gameplay, particularly with regards to boss battles, the title was nonetheless a worthy addition to the Deus Ex series. It was no surprise, then, that Square Enix announced a sequel in April, title Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
As of yet, details about the project have been thin on the ground, with even an estimated release date still unknown. Soon, however, it looks as though Deus Ex fans will be able to get a much closer look at the highly anticipated title. Square Enix has announced, via the official Deus Ex Twitter page, that there is going to be some gameplay footage shown during this year’s E3.
The “in-game reveal” will be seen during Square Enix’s E3 2015 conference. The conference is set to take place on June 16, and will mark the first time that fans of the Deus Ex series will see in-game footage from the upcoming sequel. The reveal will mark a change from the cryptic promotion that Square Enix has used so far. The publisher started the Mankind Divided hype through the use of the Can’t Kill Progress ARG, culminating in the release of a tantalizing teaser trailer.
The gameplay footage will no doubt reveal some more details about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The title, which is set in 2029 and will see a return to the story of Human Revolution’s Adam Jensen, is going to be available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Aside from that finite features are few and far between – developer Eidos-Montreal has stated that Mankind Divided will see a return to stealth-based, non-violent gameplay, with perhaps lessons learned from the impressive Director’s Cut of Human Revolution.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is not the only Square Enix project that will be at E3 2015. Although the publisher has revealed that Final Fantasy XV is not going to be at the expo, Mankind Divided will still have company in the form of the Xbox One timed exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is set to be a large part of Microsoft’s conference. Not only that, but Square Enix is also planning to announce a secret project to the video game world. Let’s wait and see what the publisher has in store.
