A retail listing for Call of Duty: Black Ops was sighted and screen-captured earlier today by MTV Multiplayer. The now removed listing, from Games.co.uk, revealed some interesting new details about the game’s different locations. If the posting can be believed, expect to visit areas such as Cuba, Vietnam, and the Arctic in Black Ops’ single player.
Here’s the full text of the listing which mirrors what we wrote on the early Call of Duty 7 details last month:
“Call of Duty Black Ops is the next instalment [sic] in the thrilling Call of Duty franchise. Packing an amazing singleplayer story that will see you fight across the globe in locations such as Cuba, Vietnam and the Arctic. Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done! “
If you watch the newly released Black Ops teaser trailer, things start to make a little more sense. In the trailer a doctor is forcing a soldier to relive some of his past experiences through torture. The soldier, a Black Ops member naturally, must then vividly recall each of his past experiences, which explains the variety of the missions.
As for “unconventional weaponry” I can only imagine what they intend. There was some helicopter action in the trailer, destroying a bridge with rockets. Perhaps they meant unconventional combat, which could create some extremely interesting scenarios in locales like Vietnam and Cuba where you’d be pushed to find any typical war combat.
Did you see anything in the trailer that pertains to the details in this retails listing, Ranters? Does the idea of following a Black Ops agent through the years sound like an interesting concept?
