The fast-paced, demolition derby game Destruction AllStars released earlier this week, but the game's handling of voice chat instantly rubbed the player base the wrong way. Fortunately, Lucid Games has rolled out a new update that should prompt a huge sigh of relief from players who were experiencing harassment or were annoyed with the default voice chat settings in Destruction AllStars.

After receiving plenty of feedback this week, Lucid Games assured players it was working on a fix to the voice chat issues. In a tweet, Lucid Games noted that a hotfix is now available which will make it so that multiplayer voice chat is turned off by default for all players. The developer also reassured fans that it is actively working on enhancements to the voice communication system, which, at the game's launch, had no way to easily turn off in online multiplayer modes.

For the unaware, Destruction AllStars originally had voice chat on by default, using the DualSense controller's microphone, for all players when they enter an online match. This led to plenty of complaints from the player base that did not appreciate being in a voice chat by default and anyone familiar with online gaming can only imagine the type of conversations players were subjected to hearing. Before the latest hotfix turned off online voice chat by default, players would have to manually turn off voice chat in Destruction AllStars in a PS5 menu.

Luckily for players having a rough time with online voice chat, Lucid Games was able to get this highly requested fix out to players quickly. While this update may not have been a scheduled stop on the Destruction AllStars roadmap, it is a welcome one. Although the metaphorical roadmap for Destruction AllStars' future content isn't available to players just yet, Sony xDev developer John McLaughlin teased in a recent interview that Destruction AllStars has "loads of cool stuff coming."

Originally, Destruction AllStars was set to be a full-priced launch title for the PlayStation 5. However, the decision was made to delay the game to February so it could launch on PlayStation Plus. Right now, PS Plus subscribers can claim Destruction AllStars all month long for their PS5. The vehicular combat game joins two other well-received titles for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. PS Plus subscribers can claim Control: Ultimate Edition for both the PS4 and PS5 consoles, and players can snag a copy of Concrete Genie.

Destruction AllStars is available now on PS5.
