The gaming community found out about a number of next-generation titles during Sony's "Future of Gaming" livestream last month, including Lucid Games' Destruction AllStars. Made by the creators of Switchblade and Need for Speed Payback, Destruction AllStars is a car combat game for PS5 focused around a creative cast of characters trying to destroy one another, and new screenshots posted by Lucid Games today show off some of the destruction that is possible.

Four screenshots posted to Twitter, all captured directly on PS5, show different wrecks in the monster truck-style arena called the London Thunderground: Vehicles being flipped over one another, thrown into walls, and decimated in head-on collisions. One image also shows off unique character powers in the PlayStation exclusive title, with an individual leaping over a car using magenta-colored lightning.

The developer has shared some information about the upcoming game on social media following its announcement, such as it having single and multiplayer modes, as well as all characters and vehicles having unique abilities to cause "destruction and mayhem" in the arena, with players able to steal new cars if their own gets destroyed. These Destruction AllStars screenshots make a case for how impressive the PS5 will be at handling complex graphics through particle effects and dynamic lighting, which is also good news for other titles like Guerrilla Games' highly-anticipated Horizon Forbidden West.

There are a lot of comparisons that can be made for Destruction AllStars to get a grasp on what it entails, with character designs and team-based scenarios reminiscent of Fortnite or Overwatch alongside gameplay that looks like a dangerous take on Rocket League, which will become a free-to-play game this summer. However, there's a lot that has not been unveiled about the next-generation title, including its potential release window.

That being said, consumers are still in the dark on when Sony's PlayStation 5 will be available to purchase, and on how much the main and digital-only versions of the console will cost. A recent discovery in the code for PlayStation's website suggests PS5 pre-orders may be limited to one per person, but not much else is known beyond that.

As it gets closer to the holiday season, more is being done to show off the console and its games. Geoff Keighley recently tested the DualSense controller as part of his Summer Game Fest, for instance, and screenshots for titles like Destruction AllStars should get potential buyers excited for what will be possible on PS5.

Destruction AllStars is in development for PS5.
