Subscribers to PS Plus were excited to find out that yet another PS5 exclusive title would be coming to the service in the form of Destruction AllStars, but things haven't been smooth sailing since then. For the most part, the new title has been met with mixed reviews from both critics and fans alike, with many feeling that it lacks the substance required to hold fans' attention. Regardless, most agree that it is still a fun party game and a good way to kill some time, so naturally many want to know whether or not the game supports any type of local multiplayer.

Games like Destruction AllStars seem like they are built for local multiplayer, but in an industry where co-op and other forms of local multiplayer are dwindling away, that isn't always a guarantee. With that in mind, it's understandable that players would want to be certain about how Destruction AllStars handles this important topic in the game before investing any time into it.

The sad truth is that Destruction AllStars doesn't feature any form of local multiplayer, and this is often cited as one of the biggest things holding it down. While it isn't terribly in depth as a driving simulator or vehicular combat game, it's still a lot of fun to play for short periods of time. What's really missing to make this a hit is the ability to play with friends on the couch. Online play allows friends to play together to a degree, but this isn't really enough for a party-game style title like Destruction AllStars.

Ultimately, Destruction AllStars feels like a party game that can't be played at parties, and as a result it fails to fill the niche that it targeted. With the right post-launch support, potentially even adding in a local multiplayer mode, the game could really find its place and shine brightly, but as it stands, it's not clear whether this will happen.

At any rate, it was given away to PS Plus subscribers for free, so it doesn't feel right to criticize it too harshly. There have been much worse offerings on PS Plus and several that were way better, but it often tends to be hit or miss when it comes to free games. Alongside Destruction AllStars this month, players also have access to Control: Ultimate Edition and Concrete Genie, both of which are highly acclaimed by critics and fans alike.

Destruction AllStars is available now on PS5.
