After the remake of the original Destroy All Humans! game proved successful, Embracer Group and THQ Nordic quickly made clear that the series would continue in its renewed and improved format with Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed. This, too, looks like a faithful recreation of the original 2006 release, albeit with significantly improved visuals and a better core gameplay loop.
Now that the Destroy All Humans franchise is once again in full swing, and with the remake of the first game well-received by the community, Reprobed seems to be one of THQ Nordic's more prominent announced projects. To capitalize on that, the publisher has just released a new trailer that announces the game's release date, as well as shows off more of its gameplay and cutscenes.
Much like Destroy All Humans 2's satirical reveal trailer, the new batch of promo materials successfully encapsulates everything that makes the franchise special and punctuates it with wanton violence against enemies both human and alien. Most importantly, however, the trailer sets up Reprobed for an August 30 release date, as well as confirming that everyone who places a pre-order for the game will get access to a standalone multiplayer version of Destroy All Humans.
Specifically, all Reprobed pre-order owners will get immediate access to the previously leaked Destroy All Humans: Clone Carnage multiplayer title. This is particularly noteworthy since Clone Carnage isn't actually a free-to-play game, but a $12.99 / €12.99 / £9.99 offshoot that's now available on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game supports up to four-player online multiplayer, as well as two-player local multiplayer functionality, and a variety of different gameplay modes to choose from.
Even though the original Destroy All Humans Remake got positive reviews, it wasn't immediately obvious whether this was a one-off project for THQ Nordic or an attempt at a proper revitalization of the franchise. Reprobed and Clone Carnage settle that particular argument, however, and show that the homicidal alien mastermind Crypto is almost certainly here to stay.
In fact, THQ Nordic seems to have been particularly clever about bringing the Destroy All Humans IP back to the forefront using special promotions. The remake of the original was, for example, featured as part of Humble Choice for April 2022, exposing a substantial number of new players to the game. It seems likely, then, that Reprobed will be similarly successful, which may well end up leading to a potential new Destroy All Humans game in the long term.
Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed is coming out on August 30 and will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
