While many Destiny players had thought that September 15th would be the date that brings many changes to Bungie’s hugely popular game, a recent update from the developer has revealed otherwise. Yes, the 15th does mark the launch of The Taken King expansion, but September 8th will see the release of Update 2.0, and with it Destiny will step into year 2 with a lot of new features and improvements.

Among those improvements is an exotic blueprint system that will allow players to keep track of every weapon and armor piece they have acquired thus far. In other words, players only have a little less than a week to try to procure any exotics they may not already have, lest a brand new set of loot overshadows them.

To assist in that endeavor, Xur has once again returned to the world of Destiny to offer up exotic armor and weapons. This is actually one of the last times that Xur will appear (presumably) with Year 1 exotic pieces in tow, as most assume his loot table will rotate to year 2 gear.

This week Xur can be found in the Reef, in his one and only hiding spot. Simply head down the stairs to the right after spawning in, and Xur will be behind the far right door. Normally the door is closed, but when Xur is in town the Reef makes an exception.

Xur’s inventory this week includes a set of exotic helmets for Titans and Warlocks and the Khepri’s Sting gauntlets for Hunters. While Titans and Warlocks have seen those two exotic helmets plenty, the new House of Wolves exotic gauntlets are somewhat of a rarity for Xur. So, if there are any Hunters who don’t happen to have the gauntlets, we’d recommend picking them up. They are extremely useful during experiences that require stealth, packing quite a punch on unsuspecting enemies.

For his weapon, this week Xur has the Patience and Time sniper rifle, another exotic that favors a stealthy approach. Aim down the sights of P&T for a little bit, and the gun will turn the user invisible. Truly, the sniper rifle is a camper’s ideal weapon, and it can come in handy during ‘Arc Burn’ Nightfall Strikes.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • Helm of Saint-14 (Titan Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Khepri's Sting (Hunter DLC Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Obisidian Mind (Warlock DLC Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Patience and Time (Sniper Rifle) – 17  Strange Coins
  • Exotic Shard – 7 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Helmet Engram – 23 Motes of Light

Overall, it was not a bad week for Xur, but most of us have our focus trained on two weeks from now. Big changes are hopefully coming Xur’s way, and new items should populate his inventory. In other words, Destiny players who haven’t already started stocking up on Strange Coins should start thinking about doing so now.
