It may be the week of E3 and most gamers’ focus may be on the new game announcements like Fallout 4 and Final Fantasy 7 remake, but that isn’t stopping Xur the Agent of the Nine from visiting the Tower in Destiny and unloading his exotic wares. After all, Destiny excitement seems to have hit a major high this week with the official announcement of The Taken King expansion, so many are likely curious to see if Xur has anything good while they are back around.

It’s actually a good thing E3 hype has seemingly helped increase interest in Destiny (yes, there are some detractors too), because Xur has a surprisingly solid selection this week. But first, you have to find him.

This week, Xur can be found in the Reef for the second time since the Destiny House of Wolves DLC launched. He’s located in the same spot as week 1 of HOW, in the previously closed off door that’s down the stairs and to the right when spawning into the social space. Open the door and check out his exotic selection.

Xur's Exotic Selection

We feel bad for Warlocks because they were the one class to get the short stick this week, but there were bound to be some low points. The high points, though, are the ACD/0 Feedback Fence gauntlets for Titans and the Khepri’s Sting gauntlets for Hunters. Both are extremely formidable, new DLC gauntlets for Destiny and could become a part of players’ regular exotic rotations.

The ACD/0 gauntlets are useful because they deal damage to any enemies (AI or real player) who melee the player. So, if a Vandal sneaks up behind the player, they will get more than they bargained for.

The Khepri’s Sting gauntlets are arguably even more useful thanks to their ‘Touch of Venom’ perk, which deals 4x melee damage when the player hits an opponent from behind while invisible. Admittedly, there are not too many instances where that ability will be essential, but there are a few where it could be a big lifesaver. It’s also a one hit kill in Trials of Osiris if you can land the melee invisible.

On the weapon side of things Hard Light has returned with its ricochet rounds. Like we said the last time Xur sold Hard Light, the auto rifle is solid, but there are better options available. Also, auto rifles are hardly a preferred weapon type after all those Bungie nerfs.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • ACD/0 Feedback Fence (Titan DLC Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Khepri's Sting (Hunter DLC Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Starfire Protocol (Warlock Chest Piece) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Hard Light (Auto Rifle) – 23 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Shard – 7 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Chest Engram – 23 Motes of Light

All told, this was perhaps the best week of Xur in a long time thanks to the two new DLC 2 exotic armor pieces. Not only that, the two gauntlets are actually pretty useful. Now if only Xur had sold the Warlock’s Ram helmet, this might have been the biggest weak for Destiny armor yet.
