Another week and another new activity arrived for Destiny 2 players to take part in. The Lumina exotic quest went live at reset, giving players access to the Rose legendary hand cannon and then evolving it into the Lumina exotic, the game's first support weapon that can fire orbs that heal and boost damage to teammates.
Unlike some of the other available exotic quests, this one isn't nearly as challenging. The trade off here is that players will need to grind a bit in order to complete some steps that include generating orbs, playing with others that have the Rose equipped, and more. Thankfully, there's a faster way to get through many of the steps if players know which activities to focus on in order to get the biggest progression boost.
Alongside the Lumina, Xur has also made his weekly return to Destiny 2 and has brought a new selection of exotics that players can purchase. Here's where players can find the elusive merchant and find out what exotic gear is in his inventory for the weekend of July 5, 2019.
Where is Xur?
This weekend, Xur has rejoined the Cabal on the Golden Barge. Head to Nessus to start the journey.
For those who have not seen it yet, fast travel to Watcher’s Grave on Nessus. After loading in, the barge will be straight ahead, so climb a rock and up the ramp to step on to the barge.
Class Armor
After a few weeks of Forsaken exotics, Xur has returned this weekend with all year one armor. Thankfully, players can purchase the Fated Engram for a chance to unlock an exotic from the Forsaken expansion.
Here are all three gear pieces for this weekend:
Sunbracers - Warlock gauntlets
Dawnblade Warlocks can pick up the Sunbracers from Xur this week. This exotic armor increases the duration of all solar grenades, while also granting unlimited solar grenade energy for a brief time after a solar melee kill is performed. The grenade cooldown time is cut way down following a solar melee kill, allowing the player to toss out nearly unlimited amounts of grenades until the effect wears off.
With the focus on grenades, this gear is great for clearing adds in modes like Reckoning, Gambit, Blind Well, and Escalation Protocol. Overall, this is an item worth picking up for Dawnblade players.
Random Gear Rolls:
- Resilience OR Mobility
- Enhanced Rocket Launcher Loader, Light Arms Loader, Fastball
- Linear Fusion Rifle Scavenger OR Machine Gun Scavenger
Graviton Forfeit - Hunter helm
It's been a while since Hunters have seen the Graviton Forfeit helm, armor that should catch the attention of Nightstalkers. When equipped, its exotic perk Vanishing Shadow nearly doubles the duration of invisibility effects and increases melee recharge speed while invisible.
In the past, this item has been known to help players solo Nightfalls, but the real draw of this helmet is how much of a positive impact it has on the Way of the Wraith super tree for Nightstalker Hunters. For players using this tree, this item is solid choice, even if there are better options out there like the Gwisin Vest. Plus, this gear piece comes with Submachine Gun Targeting which pairs very nicely with Xur's weapon for this week.
Random Gear Rolls:
- Restorative OR Resilience
- Submachine Gun Targeting, Energy Weapon Targeting, Machine Gun Targeting
- Shotgun Reserves OR Special Ammo Finder
Khepri's Horn - Titan helm
While not as exciting as last week's Titan exotic, Khepri's Horn is still a decent option for players. Originally added alongside the Curse of Osiris expansion, Khepri's Horn synergizes best with Sunbreaker Titans as its intrinsic perk, Solar Rampart, recharges the barricade ability after a solar kill. In addition, a solar blast is fired when the barricade is used.
While the community isn't too high on these right now and there are better exotic options out there, it’s a helm that’s still worth adding for Hammer Titans who don’t already have it. Barricade is a very useful skill, especially in many PvE activities like The Menagerie or taking down tough bosses with rally barricade.
Random Gear Rolls:
- Restorative OR Resilience
- Bow Targeting, Auto Rifle Targeting, Enhanced Hand Cannon Targeting
- Shotgun Reserves OR Heavy Ammo Finder
Exotic Weapon
After two months, Xur has brought back The Huckleberry this weekend. This exotic SMG is a primary slot weapon capable of dealing large amounts of damage very quickly thanks to its intrinsic perk Ride the Bull. While the trigger is held down, the weapon gains an increased rate of fire and recoil. In addition, any kills with the weapon will reload a portion of the magazine as well. The weapon also comes with rampage, which gives it increased damage (holding up to 3 stacks) after a kill, and Ricochet Rounds which causes bullets to bounce and redirect off hard surfaces.
This is a weapon that’s great at clearing out groups of enemies at closer range. Due to its chaotic nature, it's better suited to PvE activities with lots of enemies like Gambit, Reckoning, and the Menagerie. This weapon becomes even more of a beast when the catalyst is applied. Thankfully, it’s fairly easy to get, requiring players play through heroic adventures.
Additional perks for this weapon are:
- Fluted Barrel
- Short-Action Stock
Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for July 5:
- Sunbracers (Warlock gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Graviton Forfeit (Hunter helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Khepri's Horn (Titan helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
