Destiny: Xur Location and Exotic Items for January 16-19

Destiny - Xur Location January 16

While Destiny players are eagerly anticipating the launch of Crota's End Hard Mode on Wednesday of next week, the regular show must go on. That means another weekend appearance by the exotic vendor Xur, and another week of anxiously crossing our fingers. So, read on to find out where Xur is hiding in the Tower and to see what exotic items he has on sale.

This week Xur can be found in the tunnel leading to the Vanguard quarters right next to the Crucible Quartermaster. It's one of the Agent of the Nine's favorite spots and it's really hard to miss him.

Although it will be hard to top the all-DLC selection from two weeks ago, this week Xur has some pretty excellent items on sale. In fact, based solely on his exotic weapon choice we might say this is an even better week for Destiny players who got into the game late.

Armor-wise, Xur has two DLC items - the Glasshouse helmet for Titans and the Obsidian Mind helmet for Warlocks. Both helmets are pretty solid choices, especially the Obsidian Mind. New helmets are also welcome for those Crota's End runners who have yet to luck into a raid helmet, as they will help them get to level 32 quicker.

But really, the big high point of Xur this weekend is the Ice Breaker, one of the best guns in Destiny. There honestly is not a single situation where the Ice Breaker isn't useful; from Nightfall Strikes to Vault of Glass runs, this recharging ammo sniper rifle is instrumental for success. Needless to say, if you can spare the Strange Coins pick this gun up.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • The Glasshouse (Titan DLC Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Achlyophage Symbiot (Hunter Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Obsidian Mind (Warlock DLC Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Ice Breaker (Sniper Rifle) – 17 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Shard – 7 Strange Coins

On the exotic upgrade front, it's nothing terribly new from Xur except for the Bad Juju upgrade. And, for the fourth week in a row, if you haven't picked up that Gjallarhorn upgrade now is the time. Here's the full list of exotic upgrades:

  • Achlyophage Symbiote
  • Lucky Raspberry
  • Crest of Alpha Lupi
  • No Backup Plans
  • Skull of Dire Ahamkara
  • Light Beyond Nemesis
  • Bad Juju
  • The Last Word
  • Plan C
  • Pocket Infinity
  • Thunderlord
  • Gjallarhorn

Overall, this weekend should go down as one of the better ones for Xur and it couldn't come at a better time. With Bungie preparing to roll out Crota's End hard mode on Wednesday many will be thankful they have their trusty Ice Breaker along.

What do you think of Xur’s selection this week? What do you hope he sells next week?
