Destiny Xur Location Feb 6

While most Destiny players now look forward to the weekend because of Trials of Osiris, there are still plenty who enjoy the weekly visit from Xur. The Agent of the Nine has been quite good to Destiny players as of late, gifting them with many of the new House of Wolves exotic armor pieces and bringing their collection that much closer to completion.

However, on this 4th of July Weekend there is the hope that Xur might finally bring his own special firework to the party; we speak, of course, of Gjallarhorn. Gjallarhorn has been an elusive exotic weapon, sold only once during the entire lifespan of Destiny, but there's always hope it might return. And what better time to bring back the best rocket launcher, and arguably best gun in Destiny, then for a special fireworks celebration.

This week Xur can be found in Tower South, right inside of the main ship hangar. Turn right once spawning into the Tower and follow the path until you reach a set of stairs. At the bottom of those stairs take an immediate right and Xur should be tucked off in the corner there.

Xur's Exotic Inventory

Unfortunately, Xur's armor selection is all old gear - from Vanilla Destiny - but it is worth picking up the Lucky Raspberry Hunter chest piece if you haven't already. With its 'Improved Arcbolt Grenade' ability, the Hunter chest piece can make the lightning chains from that grenade type spread further. That's not very useful in PvE mind you, but can be very important in PvP. In fact, Trials of Osiris players who don't run the Crest of Alpha Lupi for quick revives, typically use the Lucky Raspberry for the triple grenade tag potential.

On the weapon side of things, Xur has the Universal Remote, a shotgun that can be used in the primary slot. Universal Remote might seem like one of those useless exotic weapons, but it can work for a very specific type of Destiny player. We've encountered a few players who use Universal Remote as their primary and a sniper rifle for their special weapon, making them equally as deadly at range and close up. Essentially, if the cross hairs are an opponent, then chances are they are dead. Obviously, the mid-range game is going to be tough without a traditional primary, but that's the trade-off with Universal Remote.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • An Insurmountable Skullfort (Titan Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Lucky Raspberry (Hunter Chest Piece) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Apotheosis Veil (Warlock Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Universal Remote (Shotgun) – 17 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Shard – 7 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Helmet Engram – 23 Motes of Light
Destiny Universal Remote

It would have been poetic for Xur to sell Gjallarhorn in celebration of a holiday known for its fireworks, but alas it was not meant to be. Instead we're left trying to find yet another way to justify him selling that highly sought after weapon.

What do you hope Xur sells next week? Which Destiny exotics do you still need to complete your set?
