We have the early scoop on where to find the vendor Xur and what exotic armor and weapons he has available to Destiny players for the weekend of December 16th.
It’s been a big week for Destiny players, with the launch of the holiday-themed Dawning event bringing something for almost everyone in the community. For starters, Sparrow Racing is back and it includes four total tracks this time around, two from last year and two brand new ones. The Dawning has also introduced Strike Scoring into the fold, a new way to approach the regular playlists that has players chasing Rainbow Medals and high scores, and which will be sticking around for the forseeable future.
All told, The Dawning seems to be a success for Destiny, and very little complaints have been raised towards the event. That’s likely because it isn’t nearly as microtransaction-focused as the Festival of the Lost was, and because it offers a variety of activities to experience. It also doesn’t hurt that The Dawning comes at a time when players are in need of new content.
But while most of Destiny is in the holiday spirit and the Tower is decorated all nice, Xur has no sense of holiday cheer, or at least he has no way to show it. Yes, the exotic vendor has returned to The Tower, but unfortunately he has not come bearing any special gifts to celebrate the occasion. Instead Xur has all the usual accommodations – nothing more and nothing less.
This weekend, players can find Xur in the Eastern section of the Tower, next to the Vanguard table. Head forward after spawning in, follow the stairs down and past and Eris, and then continue on until the room in the very back. Xur should be on the right hand side.
For exotic armor, this weekend Xur has The Glasshouse helmet for Titans, the Young Ahamkara’s Spine gauntlets for Hunters, and the Voidfang Vestments for Warlocks. Three Year 1 items aren’t going to be much for players to use their Strange Coins on, but the items do have their uses.
Xur’s exotic weapon this week is the Zhalo Supercell, a perfectly timed exotic primary if there every was one. Because the Zhalo Supercell is an arc-infused primary, it will come in handy during the weekly heroic strike playlist, which has the arc burn modifier turned on. The Zhalo also helps get quick kills, which is very useful with Strike Scoring turned on.
It’s also worth mentioning that Xur now has exotic shards for sale once again; players can trade 7 Strange Coins for 1 shard. This is also the first week that Xur will no longer sell weapon ornaments, since those will be handled either by a Treasure of the Dawning drop or they can be purchased directly from the kiosk.
