We have the early scoop on where to find the vendor Xur and what exotic armor and weapons he has available to Destiny players for the weekend of December 4th.
It’s an exciting time in the Destiny world, if for no other reason than because there is new content to explore (Sparrow Racing League) and new gear to collect. This week’s December update brought with it some new stuff, some unexpected changes, and a swath of new exotics, many of which are now part of Xur’s loot table.
So, as the weekend rolls around, Destiny players are likely eager to know what Xur has available, or more specifically if he has anything new. Sure, many of the exotics added are updated Year 1 weapons and armor pieces, but some will be pretty useful for PvE and PvP.
This week, players can find Xur in the Destiny tower, right next to the Crucible Handler. Head straight after spawning in, follow the stairs down and pass Eris Morn, and Xur should be immediately to the left. And no, Xur won’t be blocked behind some glitched door this week. We hope.
It’s a mixed bag in terms of Xur’s exotic selection this week, with some new items on offer and some old. For Titans he has the Helm of Inmost Light, which is a regular feature on the Xur rotation and is likely in every Titan’s arsenal. Whether or not they regular use it, however, is another issue entirely.
For Hunters, Xur has the Radiant Dance Machines boots, which are for the more agile players. With the new Nightstalker subclass’s Keen Scout ability, which increases movement speed, we could see these boots coming in handy – doubly so for those players who now need to get in close quick for their shotguns to be effective.
Finally, Warlocks can pick up the Nothing Manacles gauntlets, whose key perk gives tracking to the Voidwalker’s Scatter Grenade. Unfortunately, along with bringing the Nothing Manacles up to Year 2, Bungie also nerfed the tracking on the gauntlets, thereby making them less useful. Still, those who run Voidwalker may consider picking these gauntlets up.
For Xur’s exotic weapon, he has the Monte Carlo auto rifle available. Now, a few days ago we might have said the Monte Carlo was worth the purchase, but that was before Bungie revealed how insignificant the auto rifle buff in the December update is. In most cases, the buff doesn’t even change damage numbers on auto rifles. That being said, the Monte Carlo’s high rate of fire makes it a solid auto rifle for players who like to get up close in PvP.
For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:
- Helm of Inmost Light (Titan Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
- Radiant Dance Machines (Hunter Boots) – 13 Strange Coins
- Nothing Manacles (Warlock Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
- Monte Carlo (Auto Rifle) – 23 Strange Coins
- Legacy Primary Weapon Engram – 31 Strange Coins
- Three of Coins – 7 Strange Coins
It’s hard to be disappointed in Xur’s selection considering he sold two new exotics for the first post-patch weekend. Granted, it would have been nice if he had the Bones of Eao available or the Armamentarium, but those armor pieces will likely get their chance. Until next time!
