Last week, Bungie announced that it had made the tough decision to delay its highly anticipated expansion for Destiny 2 by two weeks into October. Rather than be met by anger and disappointment, the studio instead received support from its community as it not only means that the expansion will be in a better place at launch with the added time, but it also clears the release path for Borderlands 3.

Alongside the delay, Bungie revealed that it was moving event end dates and adding in new content to fill in the time. Moments of Triumph is now active until September 17, Iron Banner is also coming back that same weekend, and Bungie is preparing a double Valor and Infamy weekend as well to help players progress faster. Bungie also confirmed the Raid name as the Garden of Salvation also revealing that it'll be live on October 5, the first World's First race to take place over a weekend.

Even though players now have a bit more time on their hands until they get their hands on new content, one thing that never changes is the weekend arrivals of the exotic merchant Xur. Over the next few days, Destiny 2 players can check in with him to find an all new inventory of exotic items available to purchase. Here's where players can find Xur, and check out what exotic gear is in his inventory, for the weekend of August 9, 2019.

Where is Xur?

Starting today, players can find Xur hanging out in Watcher's Grave on Nessus. This time around, however, Xur is back in his old spot standing in the massive tree rather than Calus' Golden Barge.

Fast travel directly to the Watcher's Grave point on Nessus and immediately head up the path with the Golden Barge floating to the left. Towards the back of the zone is a massive tree which can be climbed by first jumping to the ledge nearby. Xur is standing on a large branch in this tree.

Class Armor

Xur has brought more Forsaken exotics with him this week, but overall, it's another very strong week for items regardless of the class. Don't forget, players can purchase one Fated Engram each week which has a chance to unlock an exotic from the Forsaken expansion.

Here are Xur's three gear pieces for this weekend:

Chromatic Fire - Warlock chest armor

After last week's disappointing exotic, Xur has brought with him a much better option for this weekend: the Chromatic Fire chest armor. This unique looking armor features the Crystalline Transistor perk which causes an explosion in the element of the player’s equipped subclass after a kinetic precision kill.

As such, this armor really excels in PvE situations, especially where the user is going up against a lot of enemies where the area of effect can maximize the damage. So places like Gambit, Reckoning and the Menagerie are great places to wear this item. While PvP is hit or miss, some players have discovered success when pairing this gear up with certain weapons like the Ace of Spades or Blast Furnace.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Mobility OR Restorative
  • Unflinching Fusion Rifle Aim, Unflinching Hand Cannon Aim, Unflinching Sniper Aim
  • Bow Reserves OR Special Ammo Finder

Shards of Galanor - Huntergauntlets

What was one one of the strongest Hunter exotic gear pieces in the game has since been dragged back down to Earth. Affectionately known as Stompees, these Hunter boots provide a major buff to player movement. Its intrinsic perk, Hydraulic Boosters, increase player sprint speed and slide distance. In addition, this exotic further improves High Jump, Strafe Jump, and Triple Jump.

The recent nerf to this gear really hurt its effectiveness, though it is still a very viable option for Hunters of like to run Blade Barrage and Way of a Thousand Cuts. It's not going to give back an entire super meter like it used to, but it will still help get players back there faster than normal. This gear also has two Enhanced perks on it this week making it even more desirable than normal.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Mobility OR Resilience
  • Bow Reloader, Enhanced Impact Induction, Enhanced Hand Cannon Loader
  • Rocket Launcher Scavenger OR Sniper Rifle Scavenger

ACD/0 Feedback Fence - Titan gauntlets

The only non-Forsaken exotic gear this week belongs to the Titan class. Even still, the ACD/0 Feedback Fence gauntlets are a great choice for players who like melee. Fury Conductors build energy when getting melee kills. Being hit by a melee attack not only reduces incoming damage and unleashes the currently stored energy in an explosion.

It may not be the best available Titan exotic, it is remains a solid choice especially for those players who enjoy PvP content. Getting punched and causing small explosions is a powerful and fun ability to have.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Restorative OR Resilience
  • Pulse Rifle Loader, Sidearm Loader, Momentum Transfer
  • Sniper Rifle Scavenger OR Machine Gun Scavenger

Exotic Weapon

It's been a while, but the mechanical bug shooting grenade launcher The Colony is back in stock this weekend. Insectoid Robot Grenades is its intrinsic perk which causes the weapon to fire grenades that are actually spider robots. Once fired, these devices chase enemy targets (even up/around walls) and explode at close range. As if that isn’t enough, when holstered, the gun refills its magazine as well.

Grenade launchers are in a pretty good place these days and The Colony continues to be one of the best picks in this weapon class thanks to its tracking explosives. While it’s likely a weapon that most players have at this point, The Colony is an easy recommendation for those who don’t.

Additional perks for this weapon are:

  • High Velocity Rounds
  • Linear Compensator
  • Composite Stock

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for August 9:

  • Chromatic Fire (Warlock chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Shards of Galanor (Hunter gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • ACD/0 Feedback Fence (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • The Colony (Grenade Launcher) - 29 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
