While much of the fan base is celebrating the release of the first Destiny 2 trailer, the world of Destiny 1 continues on as usual. In fact, Destiny is the liveliest it has been in some time thanks to the new Age of Triumph live event, which is meant to celebrate the full breadth of Bungie’s experience over the last three years.
A key component of that experience has been Xur, the exotic vendor that sets up shop in the Tower (or sometimes The Reef) for the weekend. However, with new reveals about the Destiny 2 story, specifically the destruction of the Tower, questions have arisen as to whether Xur will have a place in Bungie’s sequel.
For now, though, the focus is on the present, and Xur is back and better than ever. This week Destiny players can find Xur in the Eastern portion of the Tower, right next to the Crucible Vanguard. To find him, simply head straight after spawning in, follow the stairs past Eris Morn, and Xur should be on the left hand side.
Xur’s exotic armor selection this weekend includes the Ruin Wings gauntlets for Titans, the Fr0st-EE5 boots for Hunters, and the Astrocyte Verse helmet for Warlocks. Prior to a nerf, the Hunter boots were a decent pickup for PvP, but now the only real valuable items are the Titan gauntlets. Occasionally they won’t work, but when they do the Ruin Wings can help keep a Titans heavy ammo well stocked for major boss fights.
No Land Beyond is the exotic weapon on offer from Xur for this weekend, which is somewhat poetic considering the primary sniper rifle was just recently nerfed. No Land Beyond has charted all over the map as far as popularity, and it will always be a fun weapon to use every now and again. Pick it up if you don’t have it; the gun might surprise you.
For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:
- Ruin Wings (Titan Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
- Fr0st-EE5 (Hunter Boots) – 13 Strange Coins
- Astrocyte Verse (Warlock Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
- No Land Beyond (Sniper Rifle) – 23 Strange Coins
- Legacy Boot Engram – 29 Strange Coins
This week is also the first for Xur’s exotic weapon bundles, which are a package deal of one exotic weapon and one ornament for that weapon. For this week, Xur has the Monte Carlo auto rifle with Royal Flush ornament and the Zhalo Supercell auto rifle and its Shock Hazard ornament.
Priced at 30 Strange Coins and 25 Silver Dust, the exotic weapon bundles are only for the most impatient Destiny players. Right now players can buy any legacy ornament for 25 Silver Dust and most Xur weapons only cost between 19 and 23 Strange Coins. In essence, it’s cheaper to wait until Xur sells the weapon by itself and then buy the ornament. Just something to keep in mind.
