Destiny: Rise of Iron starts up another new week of content for players with the weekly playlist reset and here is everything that you'll need to know about what's new.

With all of the mask and candy collecting fun of the annual Festival of the Lost event more than halfway over at this point, many Guardians have begun to wonder what's next for the immensely popular sci-fi shooter. While Bungie has been fairly elusive when discussing the future of Destiny, the developer has peeled back the curtain just a bit to tease fans for what's coming for the rest of 2016.

While the arrival of a full fledged sequel is still at least a year away if rumors are true, in the short term, fans should be preparing for the arrival of a challenge mode for the Wrath of the Machine raid, promising to make the raid even more difficult and rewarding. In terms of big events though, it would appear that the next major one is coming next month when the  Sparrow Racing League makes its long awaited return.

For right now however, the reset has arrived signalling the start of a brand new week of content from quests, to bounties, to new challenges awaiting Guardians. To give you a leg up on the competition, here are all of the new playlists, bounties, and everything else players need to know with Destiny: Rise of Iron for the week of November 1, 2016.

Weekly Nightfall

After taking a short break, the Nightfall is once again putting Rise of Iron content front and center. This week, players will need to work together to put an end to Fallen Splicer experiments on the Hive in The Abomination Heist strike. This newly remastered take on the Summoning Pits strike takes players to the Hellmouth on the Moon, running through a familiar location though filled with the new SIVA infused Fallen.

Things come to a head quickly by the end inside of the Circle of Bones where an abomination is waiting, chained up by its splicer captors. Similarly to the Summoning Pits, the creature breaks free, tasking Guardians will taking it out while trying to stay alive as waves of Hive flood the chamber. Players will need to keep moving as standing still will likely result in a game over screen especially with Shriekers and the Hive Abomination wandering around.

To make things even more challenging for players this week, the modifiers are Epic, Arc Burn, Specialist, Juggler, and Airborne.

  • Epic adds heavily shielded enemies that are more aggressive and appear in greater numbers.
  • Arc Burn increases the damage given and received from all arc (electricity) sources, including weapons and abilities. To help maximize this effect, players should make sure to use Stormcaller, Bladedancer, and Striker subclasses. Not only that, the Zhalo Supercell would also make a great primary weapon choice as well.
  • Specialist puts a focus on special weapon damage so to fully take advantage of this, players should use a special weapon that does arc damage like the new Trespasser exotic sidearm.
  • Juggler prevents ammunition from dropping for your equipped weapon, so players should switch between weapons often to ensure plenty of ammo falls.
  • Lastly, Airborne grants bonus damage while players are in the air.

SIVA Crisis Heroic Strike Playlist

Oddly enough, the Heroic Strike playlist features many of the same modifiers that are found in the Nightfall this week including Heroic, Specialist, Juggler, and Airborne.

  • Like every week, Heroic buffs enemies, making them more aggressive and in greater numbers than normal.
  • Specialist grants added damage for players who use special weapons.
  • Juggler prevents ammunition from dropping for your equipped weapon, so players should switch between weapons often to ensure plenty of ammo falls.
  • Finally, Airborne enables players to deal more damage while in the air.

While the Heroic strike playlist is a great way to potentially earn high light loot and up to 30 additional Legendary Marks, the real reason many run this playlist each week is for the one Radiant Treasure. These treasures are an easy source of silver dust and weapon ornaments such as the new Hoodoom and Dragonsbane for Bad JuJu. Lastly, this playlist also gives a solid chance to earn incredibly rare Skeleton Keys which may drop after a boss is killed.

Crucible Playlist

This week in the Crucible, Inferno Rumble is the name of the game in the weekly playlist.

Not only is this mode a six player free for all but the twist here is that all radars/trackers are disabled and points are only earned for kills. Just like each week, simply participating in the event awards 10 Legendary Marks.

New Bounties

As always, Felwinter Peak is a must visit each week as there's plenty of new things to do and complete. For most, Tyra Karn will be the first stop on the mountain as not only does she decrypt engrams, but she also has the weekly Artifacts of the Iron Lords quest available. By now, players should be well aware that completing actions in the Plaguelands goes towards finishing this simple quest which then grants a token to be redeemed for one of three artifacts. This week, players can pick from Memory of Jolder, Memory of Silimar, and Memory of Timur.

  • Memory of Jolder completely removes the player sprint cool down penalty.
  • Memory of Silimar is a Crucible-centric artifact which grants bonus resistance to damage over time attacks from abilities or weapons such as the Year 3 Thorn exotic hand cannon.
  • Memory of Timur give players a small chance to turn a minor minion of the darkness against its allies after being struck by a melee hit. Players should keep in mind that this will work on all enemies except once with yellow health bars.

The Vanguard scout Shiro-4 is also a must visit while at the Iron Temple, as four new weekly Iron Lord bounties are ready to be claimed including the usual Plaguelander weekly quest. As for the bounties this week, players can obtain Together We Rise, Anti-Splicer, Archon's Forge: Dregs, and Archon's Forge: Shanks. For these last two bounties, using a SIVA offering creates a random public event, so Guardians may have to stick around longer than expected in order to participate in four dreg or shank specific battles.

Players looking for the hand cannon Thorn will need to complete these for a chance at starting the new exotic quest.

  • Together We Rise requires that players finish 5 public events in the Plaguelands. Keep in mind that matches inside of Archon's Forge also count towards this.
  • Anti-Splicer asks that 10 patrols be completed in the Plaguelands, which once again goes hand in hand with Shiro's other weekly quest, The Plaguelander.
  • Archon's Forge: Dregs requires that players complete four total Dreg encounters inside of Archon's Forge.
  • Archon's Forge: Shanks requires that players complete four Shank encounters inside of Archon's Forge.

This week, Lord Shaxx is sending players into Clash with his Back to Basic weekly Crucible bounty. Finishing the bounty will grant Nightfall tier rewards, potentially pushing player light levels even higher to that maximum of 400. Back to Basics requires players to finish seven clash matches, get 50 kills with a primary weapon, 25 assists, and 25 ability kills.

Challenge of the Elders

Sterling Treasure hunters will want to head over to the Reef to see good ol' Variks to battle it out inside of the level 41 Prison of Elders to claim their weekly offering filled with either Spektar or Desolate gear, chroma, and reputation boosts.

This week, players face a Vex Overmind Minotaur, the Cabal boss Val Aru'un, and a Wretched Knight. For Guardians working on the Elder's Sigil in the Challenge of the Elders, the modifiers for this week are: Specialist, Berserk, and a Precision Kill bonus.

  • As players should now be well aware, Specialist favors special weapons such as side arms, fusion rifles, sniper rifles and shotguns.
  • Berserk allows enemies to not flinch, even after taking massive damage.
  • Lastly, all Precision Kills award bonus points so make sure to aim for the head!

Events

Guardians have one more week to get all of their candy and masks collected before the Festival of the Lost event comes to an end next Tuesday. Outside of that, weekend warriors can squad up starting on Friday for another session of Trials of Osiris, but outside of that, eager players will need to continue to wait for news from Bungie.

Good luck and stay safe out there, Guardians!
