The day many Destiny fans have been anticipating finally arrived last week as Bungie held the first ever gameplay reveal stream for Destiny 2. Many questions were answered, giving players a look at all sorts of new content from three new subclasses like the Dawnbreaker, Sentinel, and Arcstrider. In addition to the subclass changes, the reveal also gave players a better look at new gameplay experiences located on four brand new locations, many of which are set in the outer rim of the Solar System.

For many, however, one of the most surprising elements was a first look at the Homecoming campaign mission which essentially lets players play through the initial invasion led by the Red Legion commander, Dominus Ghaul. With Grimoire Cards no longer apart of the experience, Bungie showed off plenty of slick-looking cut scenes which not only serve to better convey the story, but are implemented to include plenty of lore elements as well, something which many fans felt were missing from the first game.

With the livestream event now over, all eyes turn to E3 2017, where Destiny 2 will once again be featured. Until that time however, a new week has finally arrived in Destiny, bringing with it plenty of new content to explore, including quests, bounties, and events. Before heading out, check out the complete list below of what's new for the week of May 23, 2017.

For the third time since Age of Triumph launched, players have cycled through all four raids twice, meaning the third cycle has begun anew. As expected, Crota's End is back around once again, featuring all of the new and exclusive 390 raid gear and weapons. Don't forget that these items will be available for the next seven days, when the Vault of Glass comes to town once again.

With Crota's End comes both challenges as well centered around the Deathsinger and Crota himself. Here's everything that players need to do in order to complete both challenges during the raid:

  • Deathsinger Challenge – The fireteam must clear each and every enemy, including new spawns, during the Ir Yut battle.
  • Crota Challenge – Each member of the fireteam can only hold the sword once during the entire Crota fight.

Weekly Vanguard Nightfall

This week in the Nightfall, players are heading back to the Cosmodrome to stop a Fallen high priest from performing twisted experiments on the Hive. Originally introduced in Rise of Iron, the Wretched Eye strike plays out similarly to a story mission where progression is based on finishing objective more than besting waves of enemies at certain points.

Starting off in the Plaguelands, players first need to find and destroy three SIVA nodes at Bunker Triglav. Once finished, the fireteam is prompted to continue heading deeper into the bunker to take out additional nodes. Considering Arc Burn is active this week, take extra care around Splicer Shanks, who can deal significant damage very quickly.

Once all the nodes are destroyed, the final objective is to head into the main chamber to square off against high priest Kovik and his chained up monster. While the ogre does pose as a threat during the battle, players should simply avoid it as best as they can and focus fire on Kovik and his ogre eye weapon. At certain intervals, devil splicer adds will rush into the arena causing a bit more chaos, but once Kovik is down, the mission will end.

For more details in finishing off this strike quickly, make sure to read our guide.

After a four week hiatus, Daybreak has returned. The active modifiers this week are:

  • Daybreak greatly recharges abilities.
  • Arc Burn all arc-based damage from any source is increased.
  • Small Arms increases primary weapon damage while slightly decreasing special and heavy weapon damage.
  • Juggler prevents ammo from dropping for the currently equipped weapon.
  • Airborne significantly increases Guardian damage while in the air.

SIVA Crisis Heroic Strike Playlist

Just like the Nightfall, the SIVA Crisis Heroic Strike playlist also has a burn modifier, so all void-based weapons and subclasses should be used for best results. As always, completing this playlist once each week earns players a Treasure of Ages loot box and 30 Legendary Marks as well as a shot. The biggest prize, however, may be getting additional shots at rare Skeleton Keys, which have a better chance at dropping in the SIVA Heroic Crisis playlist outside of finishing the Nightfall.

The active modifiers this week are:

  • Heroic buffs enemies, making them more aggressive and in greater numbers than normal.
  • Brawler increases Guardian melee damage.
  • Ironclad provides more shields to enemies.
  • Void Burn all void based damage from any source is increased.

Weekly Story Playlist

As an alternative to most of the end game content, the Weekly Story Playlist offers a different kind of experience. Arriving alongside the Age of Triumph update, this playlist takes familiar story missions and tweaks them by adding challenge modifiers each week based around a certain theme. Like the Crucible and Strike playlists, finishing off these weekly missions for the first time grants access to legendary marks as well as a Treasure of Ages reward box.

The theme in the playlist this week centers on The Taken War, which is a pretty good clue that the missions will be pulled from The Taken King expansion. Expect plenty of Taken enemies to deal with.

The active modifiers this week are:

  • Heroic buffs enemies, making them more aggressive and in greater numbers than normal.
  • Airborne increases Guardian damage when in the air.
  • Lightswitch greatly increases enemy melee damage. Keep your distance!

Weekly Crucible Playlist

For now, it appears the Mayhem is over after being featured in various states for the past two weeks. This week in the Crucible, players can earn a Treasure of Ages reward box for playing one match of Doubles, a 2v2 team based fight to the death.

Keeping in line with the weekly rotation of Crucible modes introduced in Age of Triumph, new Crucible modes are now available. The modes this week are:

  • Control
  • Supremacy
  • Elimination
  • Salvage
  • Rumble

Iron Temple and Tower Bounties

Kicking things off this week for bounties is none other than Tyra Karn, Iron Temple Cryptarch, who offers three new Iron Lord Artifacts in exchange for performing a number of good deeds around the Plaguelands. These range from simple activities like killing Splicers, finishing patrols, to participating in Public Events including Archon's Forge. Once finished, a token can be redeemed on the following three artifacts this week:

  • Memory of Gheleon gives the players an enhanced radar, even when aiming down the sights.
  • Memory of Radegast enables players to reflect energy-based projectiles when guarding with a sword in addition to increased ammo capacity. With this artifact, players are able to reflect a lot of projectiles including a Warlock nova bomb, rockets, grenades, and much more.
  • Memory of Skorri enabled players with full supers to recharge their allies super meters faster once an enemy is killed.

The Vanguard Scout Shiro-4 has his usual assortment of things to do starting off with his weekly Plaguelander quest, asking players to wrap up various types of Patrols in The Plaguelands in exchange for high powered gear. Four new Iron Bounties are also available, with each offering a slight change at starting the Thorn exotic quest line. Here's whats on offer this week:

  • Together We Rise requires players to complete five public events in the Plaguelands.
  • Pull The Plug requires that players kill a certain percentage of Fallen Splicer major and ultra enemies. Look for the yellow health bar on this one.
  • Archon's Forge: Captains requires players to complete four Captain encounters inside of Archon's Forge.
  • Archon's Forge: Shanks requires players to complete four Shank encounters inside of Archon's Forge.

Tower Content

Heading over to The Tower, Lord Shaxx has new gear and two new Crucible bounties to tackle as expected. This week, Shaxx is offering bounties for Control and Supremacy. Here's how to finish both:

  • Taking Control requires players to finish seven Control matches, get 30 advantage kills (when one's team has more control points), capture 15 points, and capture point B first in a match once.
  • A Hunt for Glory needs players to finish 7 matches, earn 50 kills, capture 30 kill credits, and deny another 20 credits.

Last but not least, Commander Zavala is offering his usual three strike elite bounties for those interested in running through strike missions. As usual, both Sunrise and Strike Elite are available, along with Merciless.

Here's what players need to do to finish each one:

  • Sunrise - Earn a Gold Tier Medal before time expires in the Nightfall Strike.
  • Merciless – Complete strikes in the SIVA Crisis playlist and quickly kill 9 enemies to earn the Rampage medal. Do this three times with primary weapon, twice with secondary, and once with heavy weapons to finish the bounty.
  • Strike Elite - Earn 9 total medals for finishing off Strike missions through a combination of Gold Tier, Silver Tier, or Bronze Tier Medals.

As an alternative to the Nightfall, these weekly Strike and Crucible bounties are alternative ways to earn Nightfall tier rewards and loot that will help get closer to that maximum light level of 400. The Icebreaker exotic quest also has a small chance to be started by turning in the Sunrise bounty each week.

Challenge of the Elders

Last up this week is the Challenge of the Elders, an arena based combat mode pitting three Guardians against three different boss battles. Head over to The Reef to speak with the reformed Fallen, Variks, who offers his weekly Elder's Sigil for those interested in taking part in the Challenge of the Elders. Not only does this PvE mode offer high light level loot, but players can also score exclusive House of Wolves specific gear as well.

It's going to be a tough week for Elder players this week. Here are the featured modifiers this week in the arena:

  • Trickle significantly decreases all Guardian abilities.
  • Specialist increases special weapon damage while slightly decreasing primary and heavy weapon damage.
  • All Super Kills award bonus points.

And that wraps up another week of content, Guardians. Enjoy!
