As fans inch closer to May 18 and the first gameplay reveal stream for Destiny 2, things remain relatively low key in the current world of Destiny. For now, only speculation and rumor continue to take priority as Bungie remains tight lipped on anything regarding their upcoming title. The most recent speculation centers around the little ship icon in the beta logo, with some fans theorizing that it could be a brand new ship class in the upcoming sequel, similar to the old ship logo in the Destiny 1 beta logo.

In the absence of any sort of big news, players continued to hold the spotlight this past week by accomplishing even more feats and overcoming challenges in this past week's worth of content in Destiny. Not only did a two person fireteam knock off the Aksis challenge in the Wrath of the Machine raid, but one user on Reddit took it upon themselves to compile a massive list of each Legendary and Exotic weapon in the game, comparing each and every statistic and breaking down each weapon by its type.

A new week of content has finally arrived, bringing with it new challenges and missions for players to overcome. Let's take a closer look at all of the new content, bounties, and everything else in between for the week of April 25, 2017.

On the one month anniversary of the start of Age of Triumph, players have gotten a chance to experience and earn some exclusive loot from all four of the newly updated Raids starting with Crota and ending this past week with Aksis. Starting this week however, the cycle has begun anew as Crota's End is back in the spotlight, enabling players to get more of that exclusive gear if it was missed the first time around.

As expected, the Deathsinger and Crota challenges are active this week, giving players another shot at Adept primary weapons, age of triumph ornaments, and more exclusive loot. Here's what to do to satisfy both challenge requirements this week:

  • Deathsinger Challenge - The fireteam must clear each and every enemy, including new spawns, during the Ir Yut battle.
  • Crota Challenge - Each member of the fireteam can only hold the sword once during the entire Crota fight.

As usual, players have only seven days to earn the raid specific loot as the next Destiny reset will showcase a new raid.

Weekly Vanguard Nightfall

Daybreak has one again returned to the Nightfall strike, having originally been added during the first week of the Age of Triumph and arriving every fourth week going forward. The Daybreak modifier essentially adds in a littler mayhem by reducing all player cool downs, letting them use melee abilities, grenades, and supers much more often than normal. This week however, the insanity comes to the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strike.

Originally introduced with The Taken King expansion, the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strike sends players back to Old Russia to lend aid to the Warmind Rasputin. At that time, new strike mechanics were also introduced including a Warsat defense objective at the beginning of the strike and another section which challenges challenges the fireteam to work together to run an orb through an electrified hallway while fending off waves of shanks.

The coordination and teamwork theme continues to the boos fight where a large shank named S.A.B.E.R.-2 waits for players, flanked by a vast array of shank units. During the fight, the stage shifts and evolves exposing new dangers and opportunities to survive against the onslaught.

For an in depth walkthrough on this strike, make sure to check out our guide here.

The active modifiers this week are:

  • Daybreak greatly increases all guardian ability recharge speeds.
  • Solar Burn amplifies all solar damage from any source.
  • Exposure increases Guardian shields but prevents them from replenishing.
  • Ironclad adds additional shields to enemies.
  • Airborne increases Guardian damage while in the air.

SIVA Crisis Heroic Strike Playlist

Consistency is the name for the SIVA Crisis Heroic Strike playlist, as not much changes with it from week to week, though it remains arguably the best way to find lots of loot quickly. For the first strike completion in this playlist, players receive Treasure of Ages, which is essentially a grab bag of gear and items from all previous collections. In addition to 30 Legendary Marks, rare Skeleton Keys have a better chance at dropping in the SIVA Heroic Crisis playlist outside of finishing the Nightfall, which grants one automatically each week.

The active modifiers this week are:

  • Heroic buffs enemies, making them more aggressive and in greater numbers than normal.
  • Specialist enhances special weapon damage while slightly decreasing damage from primary and heavy weapons.
  • Arc Burn amplifies all arc damage from any source.
  • Juggler prevents ammo from appearing for the currently equipped weapon.

Weekly Story Playlist

For those who may want to experience a story based mission in an entirely new way, Bungie added the Weekly Story Playlist into the Age of Triumph update. When selecting this playlist from the Director screen, a random story mission is selected based on a theme of the current week with an increased light level requirement and new modifiers to remix the mission. As one would expect with other weekly playlists, this one also offers legendary marks and a Treasure of Ages reward box for the first time completion of the mission.

This week, the playlist focuses on The Iron Lords, so obviously expect to see a randomly selected mission from the most recent Rise of Iron expansion campaign.

Here are the active modifiers this week:

  • Heroic buffs enemies, making them more aggressive and in greater numbers than normal.
  • Ironclad adds additional shields to enemies.
  • Airborne increases Guardian damage while in the air.

Weekly Crucible Playlist

Another week means another new set of Crucible modes to pick from since Age of Triumph removed certain modes and added in a rotating weekly set. As expected, there's a new set of modes available this week, offering players a fresh selection of games to participate in.

Destiny Taken King Stormcaller

For the week of April 25, the featured weekly mode is Mayhem Rumble, which is a free for all deathmatch where all ability cooldowns and ammo crates have a significantly reduced cooldown time.

As for the other available Crucible modes this week, the selection is as follows:

  • Control
  • Supremacy
  • Elimination
  • Salvage
  • Rumble

Iron Temple and Tower Bounties

As expected, Tyra Karn is again offering one of three Iron Lord Artifacts in exchange for help around the Plaguelands by finishing her weekly Artifacts of the Iron Lords quest. remain the same as they were last week. Players looking for a high intellect role artifact will want to check out Perun this week. Here are the three available artifacts this week:

  • Memory of Felwinter removes the players super meter, but provides a small boost to all stats, grants an extra grenade, and melee strike. Not only that, all orb pickups recharge grenade and melee energy.
  • Memory of Skorri enabled players with full supers to recharge their allies super meters faster once an enemy is killed.
  • Memory of Perun highlights enemies that have low health and other players with full super meters.

Before heading off into a deep recesses of space, stop by Shiro-4 who also has a number of things to get done in and around the Plaguelands this week. His usual patrol quest is once again active along with the following four Iron Lord bounties:

  • Crushing Blows asks players to kill enemies with the Iron Hammer or other heavy weapon types. Easiest way to do this is in Archon’s Forge or by doing Quarantine patrols.
  • Pull The Plug tasks Guardians with taking out Fallen leaders, either major or elite enemies. Doing so adds a percentage to a meter and once 100% is reached, the bounty can be claimed.
  • Archon's Forge: Vandals requires players to complete four Vandal encounters inside of Archon's Forge.
  • Archon's Forge: Shanks requires players to complete four Shank encounters inside of Archon's Forge.

As usual, finishing these bounties are the only way to have a slight chance at starting the Thorn exotic quest line. It's one of four that is needed to finish off the four exotic quests in the Rise of Iron record book.

Tower Content

The Tower should be the next stop before venturing out into combat, as the Crucible handler Shaxx has a number of new things to check out this week. Two new Crucible bounties await players, with Control and Supremacy being in the spotlight this week. Here's how to complete each one:

  • Taking Control asks that players finish seven control matches, earn 30 kills when your team has the advantage, capture 15 points, and also capture point B first in a match.
  • A Hunt for Glory requires players to finish seven supremacy matches, get 50 kills with a primary weapon, capture 30 kill crests, and deny 20 crests.

Last up in the Tower is the Titan vanguard, Commander Zavala with his weekly strike elite bounties. As expected, Sunrise and Strike Elite are back again, joined this week by Merciless. Here's what players need to do this week:

  • Sunrise - Earn a Gold Tier Medal before time expires in the Nightfall Strike.
  • Merciless - Complete strikes in the SIVA Crisis playlist and quickly kill 9 enemies to earn the Rampage medal. Do this three times with primary weapon, twice with secondary, and once with heavy weapons to finish the bounty.
  • Strike Elite - Earn 9 total medals for finishing off Strike missions through a combination of Gold Tier,  Silver Tier, or Bronze Tier Medals.

For players not interested in the Nightfall, these weekly Strike and Crucible bounties are alternative ways to earn Nightfall tier rewards and loot that will help get closer to that maximum light level of 400. The Icebreaker exotic quest also has a small chance to be started by turning in the Sunrise bounty each week.

 Challenge of the Elders

Finally, we have Varik's and his Challenge of the Elders playlist in the arena. Players looking to participate in this event must first visit The Reef and speak to the reformed Fallen to pick up any Prison of Elders bounties and the Elder's Sigil as well.

This week, the featured modifiers are:

  • Airborne increases Guardian damage while in the air.
  • Fresh Troops adds additional enemies to the encounter.
  • All Grenade Kills award bonus points.

And that will do it for another week Guardians. Enjoy!
