Destiny players have been plenty busy in the few days since the second major DLC pack launched. Dedicated gamers have already decrypted over 100 million engrams and the game’s Cryptarchs have received 11.2 billion in Glimmer. With the impending launch of the Trial of Osiris multiplayer event, gamers will soon have another way to spend that Glimmer.
The sci-fi shooter’s new 3v3 multiplayer event is a part of the House of Wolves expansion, but hasn’t been available to players quite yet. According to the latest Bungie Weekly Update, players can start battling it out in the Trial of Osiris tomorrow, May 22, at 10 AM Pacific.
The special Crucible multiplayer event pins teams of three against each other with no respawns. Players will have the opportunity to revive fallen comrades for a limited amount of time, but the traditional respawn won’t be available. The two teams brawl until one side takes home the W five times and then they are declared the match champions.
If players have a team that they think is worthy of the Trial of Osiris, they should act quickly, because the event is only available for a limited time. For now, the event will be running every Friday through the weekly reset on Tuesday. In order to jump in, players will first need to obtain a Trials Passage.
To earn their first Trials Passages, players will be able to complete some simple fetch quests by talking to NPCs on the Reef. After they run out of freebies, players will need to shell out 100 Glimmer for each Passage. The Trials Passage tracks player wins and losses and allows them to continue the run until they lose three times (similar to the Arena run structure in Hearthstone). Once three losses have been recorded, players can turn in the quest and receive a reward that is determined based on the number of wins they put on the board.
Here is a breakdown of what players will be able to earn…
2-3 wins: A blue package that can contain Motes of Light, Passage Coins, and other items
5 wins: Ability to purchase the weekly armor
6 wins A legendary package
7 wins: Ability to purchase the weekly weapon
8 wins: Ability to buy a legendary package
For dedicated end-game and PvP players, the rewards are great motivation to get a team together and clock some hours in the multiplayer event. To bring even more attention to the event, Twitch has teamed up with Bungie to organize the Trial of Osiris Challenge. The Twitch Challenge tournament will allow teams to compete for real cash that will be donated to the charity of their team’s choice.
