Yesterday, a 4-person team went in head first during the hard mode of the King's Fall raid in Destiny: The Taken King, with the Guardians going on to beat Oryx.

Ever since the recent release of the King's Fall raid hard mode in Destiny: The Taken King, many Guardians have taken to the extra difficult quest with aplomb, such as the Forever LivE Clan who was the first to successfully tackle the mode, as they beat it in a little over one hour. Now, despite the recommended amount of Guardians to take out Oryx being a 6-player group with individual light levels of 300-320, a stripped down 4-person team has impressively defeated the Destiny boss.

As seen below in the clip from Commander Cuestra's Twitch stream, the squad kept their cool throughout the battle and used a divide and conquer strategy when it came to handling all of Oryx's minions, as well as the Taken King himself. For the most part, the player whose perspective we see in the video maintains his distance using a mix of sniper rifles and the Touch of Malice for combat, which could prove to be a beneficial method for Guardians keen on long-range engagement.

This isn't the first time a patrol smaller than advised went on to complete the King's Fall raid. As it happens, just last week, a team of just two players beat Oryx However, it must be noted that the couple of Guardians being mentioned were playing the normal version of the raid, and not the hard mode, which not only increases the difficulty, but alters the King's Fall mechanics as well.

While some might argue that the changes Bungie implemented to make the raid more challenging are not really all that significant, especially considering one of the biggest differences is the recommended light level of 310, fans should be aware that fresh enemy spawns in the Oryx fight can become a nuisance if they're not consistently culled from the battle. For example, the Light Eater Knights cropping up right after an Ogre gets capped can be rather chaotic to manage, especially with them continually trying to devour one of the Corrupted Light bombs on the map.

With this most recent feat from Commander Cuesta and his crew, there will surely be plenty of Guardians looking to best the achievement in their own way. After all, a little healthy competition never hurt anybody.

What do you think of the 4-person fireteam taking out Oryx in the hard mode of Destiny's King's Fall raid? Does it inspire you to tackle it with a scaled-back squad?

Destiny: The Taken King is available now for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
