When Bungie revealed that the upcoming Destiny expansion, House of Wolves, wouldn't include a new raid, many players were understandably disappointed. Even though the Destiny DLC comes with other new missions and experiences, it's safe to say the majority of players were looking forward to the new raid the most. This means those players who thrive on the raids will need to continue finding new ways to enhance their experiences with Destiny's current two raids, Vault of Glass and Crota's End.

Fortunately for Destiny players, one Guardian has done just that and discovered a way to beat Atheon in the Vault of Glass raid - solo. That's right, what has been considered impossible for many months has now been proven possible. Destiny players can solo Atheon, and it's actually not that hard; it just takes a bit of time to complete.

The gamer who discovered the method provided instructions on Reddit for all three of the Destiny classes. All that's needed is for players to jump their way to a particular area at the beginning of the fight with Atheon and prepare for a lengthy battle.

Since players don't have the benefit of the relic to strengthen their damage on Atheon, each shot will only do slight damage to the Vault of Glass boss. As Guardians fire, Atheon will attempt to send them through the time stream. When this happens, players need to quickly double jump to avoid being lost to the dark corners of time forever. A barrier will appear, which players can quickly destroy and continue their attacks on Atheon.

Based on the footage and instructions provided by the gamer, who goes by MeowzaForceGaming on Reddit and YouTube, it looks like the best weapons to bring along are Ice Breaker, Hunger of Crota, and a quality scout rifle. With this arsenal of weapons, players should be able to defeat Atheon in 22 to 25 minutes.

With this method, it looks like players can defeat Atheon solo on both Normal and Hard modes. However, we'll note that players will still need to work in a team of three or more to get to Atheon. The Vault of Glass is set up so that three players are required to complete earlier sections. Once the team gets to Atheon, though, two players can drop out and leave one to defeat the boss. Granted, beating Atheon with a team is far easier and much less time consuming, but it's good to know solo-ing Atheon is possible.

Hopefully this new challenge will provide a fresh experience for Destiny players, especially those most disappointed by the lack of a new raid in House of Wolves. And with no new raid to tackle, we are sure to see players attempt and discover other new feats in Vault of Glass and Crota's End.
