Although the release of new content and a balance patch is typically supposed to further improve the Destiny experience, there are always a few kinks to work out. It was no different back when Destiny first launched, and it’s no different now, with a new self-res glitch ruining PvP, especially Trials of Osiris matches.

As some Destiny players might have already noticed, the new glitch freezes the timer if a player self-resurrects as the last member of their team and is then killed. There are some ways to restart the timer, like having a player self-res again, but by and large the glitch locks the match. Moreover, some teams are using it as a tactic to force their opponents to leave, thereby granting them a win.

Of course, not all Destiny players are using the glitch intentionally, so it’s important to be aware of how it can happen. The only problem is most players use a Warlock's self-res super in the exact instance that causes the glitch, as a type of last resort when all of their teammates are dead.

The good news is that Bungie is aware of the issue and is working hard to fix it. Given that the glitch is ruining Trials of Osiris matches for players, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a hot fix go live before next weekend. Perhaps Bungie might even push a fix through alongside the release of the refreshed Vault of Glass raid, which will feature a Templar and Atheon challenge.

While it’s unclear what is causing the self-res glitch, it likely is a byproduct of Bungie’s fix for the previous self-res exploit. Prior to the release of Age of Triumph and its balance patch, players could self-res at a specific time during the end of a match and prolong the timer for generating supers and whatnot. Needless to say, it was a problem, but Bungie’s “fix” has created its own issue as well. Luckily it doesn’t give a team any advantage; it just brings matches to a standstill.

As was mentioned, Bungie should be quick to address the glitch, if only because it impacts the most popular PvP event for Destiny. For now, though, we’d recommend sticking to PvP and trying to complete some of the Age of Triumph record book. Or you could tackle one of the new Crota’s End challenges, which will reward players with elemental primary weapons.

Destiny: Age of Triumph is live on PS4 and Xbox One.
