Destiny: Rise of Iron Reveal Trailer - Titan with axe

Bungie releases the official reveal trailer for the Rise of Iron expansion for Destiny, confirming the expansion's release date, and revealing new features.

Following a number of leaks, Bungie has finally pulled the curtain back on the next expansion for Destiny in an official capacity. Called the Rise of Iron expansion, it will be available on September 20th for PS4 and Xbox One players, and could very well be the largest expansion in Destiny history.

While The Taken King expansion previously held that honor, the amount of new content Bungie has announced for Destiny: Rise of Iron is sure to give it a run for its money. The expansion will feature a new story, a new raid, new enemies, a new Strike, a new Crucible match type, brand new weapons, and more. While some may find the $30 asking price a little steep, it seems as though Destiny enthusiasts will be getting their money's worth with the Rise of Iron expansion come September.

Those that pre-order the expansion will also be treated to the Iron Gjallarhorn, a new version of the popular Gjallarhorn exotic weapon. This information, along with a number of screenshots, were actually leaked yesterday, but now fans can check out the new Gjallarhorn in all its 1080p glory in the Destiny: Rise of Iron official reveal trailer below.

Some would say that Destiny's persistent popularity is thanks to Bungie supporting the game with significant expansions like Rise of Iron. In fact, many would point to The Taken King expansion as helping Destiny remain relevant nearly two years after its initial release, and it looks as though Rise of Iron will keep gamers engaged until the Destiny sequel drops next year.

Destiny 2 aside, with the official reveal trailer for Rise of Iron already available, there's a chance that the expansion's presence at E3 will be used to expand on what the trailer promises. For example, we may see Rise of Iron's new social space, or alternatively, details on its new Crucible match type could be revealed instead. For anyone hoping to see more of Rise of Iron at E3, it may be a safe bet to tune into Sony's E3 2016 press conference on Monday night.

Regardless of how much more we see of Rise of Iron at E3, the expansion's reveal trailer should get Destiny fans hyped for its launch in September. In the meantime, it will be exciting to learn more about the expansion and all the new content it will be bringing to Destiny in the months leading up to its release.

Destiny: Rise of Iron will be available on September 20th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
