The exotic hand cannon, Thorn, is back in Destiny Year 3. Here's the complete guide on how to earn the infamous weapon, which will be familiar to those who did it in Year 1.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is officially out and that means that fans are chasing down the expansions secrets and loot, especially exotics. One of those exotics is Thorn, which has returned in Year 3 at current Light levels.

In what seems to be an elusive quest, fans are still searching for how to get their hands on the weapon that ruled Destiny's first year of Crucible and Trials of Osiris play. Here is a guide on how to earn Thorn.

With Bungie's focus on nostalgia in Rise of Iron, it seems they wanted players to go through a very similar version of the quest that led to Thorn in Year 1.

The journey starts with an exotic weapon quest that drops randomly when turning in bounties. Once the quest is obtained, step 1 is "Echoes of Darkness." To complete this step, play and complete the new Wretched Eye Strike.

After that, step 2, "Harvest of the Lesser," will take players to the Plaguelands to kill Fallen. After killing about 500 enemies, the next step will commence.

Step 3 is the one that many players despised in the Year 1 version of this quest. "Feast Upon the Light" challenges players with getting kills in the Crucible using Void damage. Go into the Crucible with a Void-based subclass and any Void weapons. Use those weapons and abilities as much as possible to get kills. To complete this step, 150 kills are needed. It has yet to be tested of this can be completed in Private Matches. If so, it could make this considerably easier.

After that step, players will only need to consume 5 Motes of Light to complete the next one. Easy enough.

The last step requires players to find a Skelton Key and open the Strike Hoard chest at the end of The Abomination Heist strike, a beefed up version of The Summoning Pits strike that made up the final step of the Year 1 version of this quest. For those in need of a Skeleton Key, one is awarded from the quest "None Are Perfect".

After that, Thorn will be rewarded to the player.
