Destiny's new raid was set to launch its Heroic Mode next week, but will be delayed a few hours to ensure that players have a chance to download a new game update.

Destiny fans are awaiting the next step of the Rise of Iron expansion, which is the launch of the Heroic Mode of Wrath of the Machine. Bungie announced last week that the new Destiny raid's Heroic Mode would launch Tuesday, October 18th at 10 a.m. Pacific; however, Bungie updated fans that it will be delayed until later in the day.

The delay comes as a result of Update 2.4.1 being pushed to the game that same day. Said update will raise the Light level to 400 and will provide players with more avenues to reach the pre-update 385 Light level cap and beyond. Update 2.4.1 will go live at the previously announced Heroic Mode start time, October 18th at 10 a.m. Pacific.

The delay comes "to ensure that all World-First-hopeful Fireteams have time to download the update" so that there is an even playing field and start time for the race that always comes with the launch of a new raid. Download speeds and server traffic can play a factor in how fast an update downloads, and Bungie clearly wants to ensure no one player can start on the raid ahead of another.

Almost nothing is known at this point about what Heroic Mode of Wrath of the Machine holds in store for players. It is safe to assume that the recommended Light will be raised and more powerful enemies will be present, but Bungie has not teased anything about new mechanics or challenges awaiting fans.

Destiny fans definitely seem ready for Heroic Mode to come out, with Normal Mode of Wrath of the Machine being handily beaten and now being conquered in new and interesting ways such as defeating Aksis without using guns and setting a speed record of clearing the entire raid in 23 minutes.
