In the world of Destiny, there are a select group of players that try to challenge themselves beyond the rules of the game. These players take the hardest activities – usually raids – and create even more challenges to complete, until it seems impossible. And even then these teams and players usually achieve their goal, whether it’s solo-ing a final boss or beating a raid without firing a shot.

But while many of these feats are impressive, they usually don’t get the recognition that a speedrunner or a high score runner might get. However, one group of Destiny 1 players has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for their impressive raid run.

The group in question beat every final Destiny 1 raid boss, back-to-back, without firing guns, without dying, without wiping, and all while completing the challenge for each encounter. They also wanted to highlight that any relic or damage-dealing item was only used to progress in the fight and not to do extra damage to the boss. For example, the Vault of Glass relic was only used to cleanse and the elemental cannons in the Aksis boss fight of Wrath of the Machine were only used to destroy Servitors. It’s a crazy feat, no doubt, and the group was able to complete it back in the summer of 2017, after about 60 hours’ worth of attempts.

As some might have guessed, some of the challenge runners were members of Clan Redeem, who are known for nabbing World’s First completions on Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 raids, and for crazy challenges. However, the group rotated players in and out over time because not everyone could commit to continuously trying. In total, 11 players were part of the team.

After the run was complete, it was shared on YouTube and various Destiny forums and subreddits, but apparently a bigger party was paying attention. Now Guinness has put it in its Book of World Records Gaming Edition for 2019 (screenshot shared by Destiny content creator Th3 Jez).

So while completing these types of challenges may seem pointless to most gamers, these players now have their accomplishment in the Guinness Book of World Records.
