Destiny 2 developer, Bungie, once made the promise to make an actual toaster based on the Destiny 2 weapon, Jotunn, which is comically referred to as a toaster by the Destiny community. Bungie set the goal of making a Jotunn toaster if the Destiny Community could hit the donation goal of $777,777.77 during its livestream block supporting GCX 2020.

Outside of Senior Community Manager Dylan dressing up as bread, there's likely no better way to commemorate the chase for bread than with a Destiny Toaster themed after the Fusion Rifle, Jotunn. While Jotunn may not be an actual toaster, the Destiny Toaster is now officially on sale on the Bungie Store.

As with all toasters, the Destiny Toaster toasts bread, however, it toasts bread with the Destiny Tricorn logo. Bringing bread and Destiny together in a way that was once only a meme on the internet, the Destiny Toaster can now be a meme in Guardian's homes for the price of $84.99. The Destiny Toaster is available for pre-order with an expected ship date of December 2 2021 through January 2022.

Guardians looking to add a slice of Destiny toasted bread to their morning breakfast, or any meal or snack, can do so knowing that 10% of the profits will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Guardians will also receive a Jotunn-themed sandwich holder and a Destiny 2 in-game emblem, Burnt Edges, along with their purchase of a Destiny Toaster.

Bungie has been a large part of the GCX charity event, this year having multiple emblems and Destiny-themed prizes for the GCX event. Donating 10% of the profits to St. Jude Children’s Hospital is just another way Bungie gives back. The Destiny Jotunn Toaster was created because of a GCX event supporting St. Jude, so it is fitting to see some profits go back to St. Jude.

Many people believe the price is too high considering the toaster is made by a company that has made many custom toasters that cost half the price. This is a valid point if people are just looking to buy a toaster, however, people should keep in mind that the Destiny Toaster is less about buying a toaster and more about supporting an initiative that is helping children all around the world.

The Destiny Toaster, while a hilarious meme that’s come to life, is also a reminder of what gamers can do and how powerful they can be when they come together to support a common goal of raising a bunch of money for a well-deserving Charity. As Senior Community Manager, Dylan would say, “Time to get that bread.”

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
