Bungie has had a tougher week than normal after the developer found itself embroiled in controversy over the prices attached to the recently announced Destiny expansion, The Taken King and one of their developers not coming off well about it in an interview.
With Bungie announcing more concrete details for the upcoming expansion and promising to make things right with their fanbase, the developer is bringing back the popular competitive event, Iron Banner, this week for Destiny players along with all new loot to earn.
In a Tweet over the official Bungie account, the developer confirmed Lord Saladin will indeed be returning for the first time since the House of Wolves expansion launched for Destiny back in May. The event is planned to kick off starting at 10am PDT, typically lasting for one week.
For fans of loot, the Iron Banner is also bringing with it some new gear to unlock including chest armor, gauntlets, machine gun, and for the first time ever, the legendary Skorri’s Revenge pulse rifle. This rifle is one of the nine vaunted Iron Banner weapons and carries one of the highest rates of fire in the game. Currently, no concrete details have been given for what the other three items are or look like.

The last event also brought with it a rare resource called Etheric Light, rewarded to players at Iron Banner reputation level 3 and 5. This resource is prized by Destiny players as it’s a vital item in order to upgrade gear. There’s currently been no word as whether or not this resource will be made available during the event.
Considering the next expansion is due out in September, this very well could be the last Iron Banner event to take place. Considering the monumental changes that were introduced with House of Wolves, it stands to reason that additional tweaks and changes could very well come down once The Taken King launches.
Any Destiny players plan on jumping into the firefight during the event? Lets us know below in the comments.
Destiny: The Taken King is set for launch on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 on September 15, 2015.
