Destiny Crucible

Bungie has been slowly rolling out details for its upcoming Destiny expansion, House of Wolves, which is set to drop in just a few short weeks. Much of what Bungie has released has centered around a new Crucible event, called Trials of Osiris, which will provide new ways for Guardians to take on friends and strangers in the PvP arena.

In this week’s Destiny update, Bungie has provided a few details about additional changes coming to the Crucible. These changes will come as part of a new patch, known as update 1.2.0, which will be available for players to download shortly before House of Wolves launches. According to Bungie, these changes will provide “another evolution” for the experiences players already have within the Crucible.

  • The spawn locking issue currently affecting Iron Banner will be fixed.
  • Legendary items will be added to post-game reward tables for all Crucible activities.
  • Your first match in the daily featured Crucible activity will earn you a new reward package each day.
  • Reputation and Mark gains will double for each completed Crucible match.
  • Etheric Light has a chance of being included in Iron Banner reward packages for Rank 3 and Rank 5.

Probably the biggest change from the above list is that reputation and Crucible Marks will double for each completed Crucible match. This will be a welcome change for regular Crucible players, as the rewards for their efforts will be greatly increased. Additionally, these changes are sure to encourage Guardians who have been absent from the Crucible to jump into Destiny’s PvP arena more often.

Another big change coming to Destiny's Crucible is three maps from The Dark Below will no longer be exclusive to Dark Below owners, but will be available for all Destiny players to enjoy. The three maps are Pantheon, Skyshock, and The Cauldron. These Dark Below maps will become free just as House of Wolves introduces four new Crucible maps (one will be PlayStation exclusive) for those players who purchase the second expansion.

Destiny players will note the addition of Etheric Light as a potential reward after Iron Banner matches at Rank 3 and Rank 5. Etheric Light is a new type of upgrade material Bungie is introducing with House of Wolves. It will be used to ascend Legendary weapons to 365 attack and Legendary armor to light level 42. In addition to the Iron Banner, Etheric Light will be obtainable from the Weekly Nightfall Strike, The Prison of Elders, and The Trials of Osiris.
