Destiny Guide: Where to Find Hadium Flakes

By | 1 year ago

Destiny: The Taken King has arrived and the mess of new content is more than enough to keep first-person shooter fans busy for the next few weeks. One of the biggest complaints about Destiny’s original launch was that there wasn’t enough content to keep the hardcore players busy and Bungie has gone out of its way in an attempt to make sure that isn’t the case with the game’s first major expansion.

End-game players will likely fly through the expansion’s additions to story mode pretty quickly, but there is still a lot to do after the lore has been explored. While players focus on reaching max light level and grinding out the appropriate gear and reputation to get every weapon they want, there is a lot to keep track of. One major grind for every player to check off of their list is the acquisition of 25 Hadium Flakes. We’ve found the fasted way to take care of this fetch quest.

Unlocking the Quest

In case some players aren’t aware, the reason for grinding Hadium Flakes is to eventually unlock an awesome legendary sword. Players need to turn in 25 Flakes to Lord Shaxx in order to forge the sword. In addition to handing over the 25 Hadium Flakes and some Motes of Light to the Crucible Quartermaster, players need to finish the main story before the quest for the sword can begin.

Return to Dreadnaught

Hadium Flakes are a mineral that can only be found by opening chests. The quickest way to get 25 of the Flakes is to make a series of repeated runs through Dreadnaught to loot each of the four or five crates that can be found there. Each crate is only going to net one Flake, so the whole grind will likely take about six or so trips through the grind.

Dreadnaught is kind of a huge area, but by following the directions in the video above, players will be able to skip most of the level’s obstacles and just zip from chest to chest. As the video explains, there is one chest that requires a key to open, which we haven’t found yet. We’ll update once the key has been located and we confirm that the chest contains more precious Hadium.

Return to Lord Shaxx

Once players finish the grind and have 25 Hadium Flakes in tow, they can return to the Crucible Quartermaster. Once the farming is finished and the Flakes are turned in, players will be one step closer to having the Quartermaster forge them a brand new legendary sword.

Have you finished farming Hadium Flakes yet? Do you have a better path for the grind? Let us know in the comments.

Destiny – The Taken King is now available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The King’s Fall Raid will launch on September 18, 2015.
