After announcing its intentions several months ago to partner with Bungie to release Funko Pop figures of characters from the science fiction shooter Destiny, the vinyl toy manufacturer has now followed through to reveal that the models will be hitting the market sometime in August of this year. However, the company failed to disclose an exact release date when unveiling which of the action-RPG's familiar faces would be made available in the toy line.

As seen below in the gallery for Funko Pop's forthcoming line of figures for Bungie's first-person shooter, several of the main characters from the game such as Lord Shaxx, Ikora, Zavala, Xur, and Cayde-6–all of whom are vendors or dole out quests for players–will be given models of their own. Of course, not to be left out, some of Destiny's raid bosses will be included in the toy line as well, with Oryx, Atheon, and Crota having figures made of them, too.

As has been the case in the past with a lot of other Funko Pop toy lines, some of the Destiny figures will be exclusives at certain locations. For instance, Xur and Atheon will only be able for purchase at GameStop, while Crota will only be sold at Target, with one out of six Crota figures being models that actually glow-in-the-dark.

As previously mentioned, Destiny will just be the latest video game franchise to receive its own set of Funko Pop figures, as the toy manufacturer has made a plethora of other toys based off other titles. For instance, heroes from Blizzard's team-based shooter Overwatch have been given the Funko treatment, as have characters from the likes of BioWare's Mass Effect: Andromeda, CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3, and Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts.

Taking all of this into consideration, Funko Pop's decision to release these Destiny figures in August is undoubtedly a sly marketing move on behalf of the toy company and Bungie, as the next entry in the series, Destiny 2, is slated to drop the following month. So, with it having been confirmed by Activision that the first installment in the franchise will not receive another significant content update, it looks like Funko Pop's physical toy line will have to serve as a stopgap in between its August release and the sequel's launch in September for many Guardians.

Destiny 2 is slated to release on September 8, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
