Without a doubt, one of the best aspects about the video game community, particularly when it comes to Destiny, is the friendships and bonds that are formed from the shared experience of exploring and playing through the virtual worlds created by development teams like Bungie. Unfortunately, though, such relationships can have untimely ends, much like the Destiny clan Maetal Militia's connection with their teammate GiorgioButon, who recently passed away at the age of 31 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

As seen in the video from the Maetal Militia clan below, the group decided to put together a heartfelt tribute to their fallen Guardian companion by collecting and compiling some clips of the clan fighting alongside their friend. Not only does the footage feature the clan posing together in various situations throughout the science fiction shooter's landscape, but also it includes a moment in which GiorgioButon managed to deal the fatal blow to Crota in Destiny's Crota's End raid campaign.

As told by the Guardian mat-the-wolverine, who posted the tribute for the fallen Maetal Militia clan member in the official Destiny subreddit, GiorgioButon was an "Incredible member of [Maetal Militia]," and was "one of the first members." The Redditor went on to say, "He always helped his fellow Guardians and made people feel part of our community, even those who had recently joined our little clan. Always shooting first, always in front of everyone, attacking situations almost as if he knew that his time was limited."

Regrettably, this is far from the first instance of people losing pals and loved ones with whom they formed relationships through games like Destiny. Nevertheless, the Maetal Militia's passionate homage to their teammate will definitely be remembered as one of the most touching tributes to gamers who have passed away.

Rest in peace, GiorgioButon. Eyes up, Guardians.

Destiny is available now for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
