It appears it is never too soon to let the rumor mill begin on Destiny 3, and a rumored leak offers new info about what is supposedly coming in the first fully Bungie-controlled and self-published Destiny game since Bungie's split from publisher Activision. If the leak proves to be true, it provides details about the new enemy race, gameplay changes, the story, and more.

The leak comes from AnonTheNine, a member of the Destiny subreddit, and a source who has accurately leaked details in the past about the first two games in the franchise. According to the leak, the new enemy race of Destiny 3 is called the Veil, a race of "astrodemons" who are described in existing Destiny 2 lore that came with the Black Armory add-on as having "dark greenish skin, sharp claws" and a "distinct stench of 'wet earth." The story summary provided by the leak focuses on the god of the Veil and its conflict with the Traveler:

"During the collapse, the god of the Veil was slain in a conflict with the light. Since then, the Veil have been waiting for the Traveler to re-awaken so they can syphon it's power to resurrect their dead god."

One of the biggest rumors swirling around the Internet is that Destiny 3 will have no PvP but will instead have an open world that blends PvP and PvE together. The leak from AnonTheNine confirms the part about open-world PvPvE areas, said to function similar to the game PlanetSide, but there are no details to either confirm or deny those areas replacing the traditional arena-based Crucible PvP modes found in the first two Destiny games.

destiny 3 old chicago location rumor leak

Some rumors that have made the rounds ever since Destiny 1 sound like they are confirmed for Destiny 3 including the game including Darkness-based subclasses, the inclusion of the long-teased pyramid Darkness ships with one of them serving as an endgame location similar to Destiny 2's Dreaming City, and the locations of Old Chicago, Europa, and a return to Venus.

According to this leak, Destiny 3 will cater to the hardcore audience, bringing in more RPG elements, and being much harder than either of the first two games. This is quite a turnaround from Destiny 2, which stripped out many of the RPG elements and difficulty to cater to a wider, casual audience.

Again, all this is rumor at this point and Bungie has yet to reveal its plans for the Destiny 2's third year (although the leak also mentions that Year 3 will follow a similar Annual Pass model like Year 2) or Destiny 3, so fans may be waiting for some time before they hear official word about the game.

Destiny 3 has yet to be officially announced.
