It's Friday which means Destiny 2's exotic merchant Xur has finally returned to the game world to offer his usual exotic wares. While Forsaken has done much to rejuvenate the game and fan base, it seems Xur has taken a step back, losing certain consumable items, and wasn't offering a Year 1 Fated Engram. For PC and Xbox players, the realization was a bit of a disappointment, as many were hoping to use the Fated Engram to obtain former PlayStation exclusive items like the Borealis sniper rifle.

It also didn't help that Xur's inventory from last week included two items that were offered the previous week, adding another layer of disappointment. This occurred on top of the realization that the merchant won't be carrying new Year 2 exotics for a period of time. Thankfully, that pattern doesn't repeat for this week and better yet, the merchant once again has the Fated Engram for sale.

Here's a rundown on where to find Xur, as well as what he's offering from September 14 until he departs before Destiny 2's weekly reset next week.

Where is Xur?

The new challenge every Friday is discovering where the shifty merchant is in the game world since he's no longer tethered to the Destiny 2 Flashpoint milestone location, and no longer has a big icon displayed on the location map.

This week, players can find Xur hanging out in the European Dead Zone once again. He's in his usual location in the Winding Cove overlooking the Fallen encampment to the back of the zone.

Class Armor

Xur has completely refreshed his inventory, so players won't be seeing anything they've already seen from the previous two weeks. For the class armor, he's offering one piece from each of the year 1 phases, original release, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind. For September 14, his inventory includes the Wormgod Caress titan gauntlets, Graviton Forfeit helm for Hunters, and the Warlock's Eye of Another World. Each one has a randomized set of rolls, making them a little more interesting than their year 1 counterparts.

First up is the Graviton Forfeit helm for Hunters, which pairs very well with Nightstalkers. When equipped, its exotic perk Vanishing Shadow nearly doubles the duration of invisibility effects and increases melee recharge speed while invisible. Players have been known to use this item to help solo Nightfalls, but the real draw of this helmet is how much of a positive impact it has on the new Way of the Wraith super tree for Nightstalker Hunters. For players using this tree, this item is a very easy recommendation to make.

This week, Titan players can pick up the Wormgod Caress, an exotic pair of gauntlets that arrived alongside the Warmind expansion. Its exotic perk, Burning Fists, adds extra damage to melee attacks for every melee kill. Not only that, additional kills increase the effect and extend the perk's duration. These aren't the best Titan exotics on the market, but players have been finding more use for them, especially when paired with the new Code of the Devastator Sunbreaker tree and the throwable melee hammer.

Finally, Warlocks can pick up the exotic helm, Eye of Another World. This is a helmet that isn't subclass specific, as the Cerebral Uplink exotic perk improves the regeneration rate of grenades, melee, and the rift. It also highlights priority targets for the player as well. While not particularly strong or unique of an exotic item, it's gear that was recently buffed in the Sandbox update, supercharging its recharge effects. Along with its randomized rolls, it may be an item worth checking out once again.

Exotic Weapon

It seems Xur has a thing for solar weapons, and while this week's offering isn't the Prometheus Lens again, it does cause things to explode. The Sunshot exotic hand cannon is a high impact and high handling revolver with a weapon perk that causes enemies to explode when killed by a headshot. Its exotic perk is called Sunburn, which gives the gun explosive rounds and causes enemies to become highlighted after taking damage.

While there are plenty of better hand cannons available, especially for PvP, Sunshot is still a gun worth looking into. It features great PvE crowd control with its damaging solar explosions and isn't a bad choice for players still trying to get those 5 Gambit invader kills for the Ace of Spades exotic quest.

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock for Sept 14:

  • Wormgod Caress (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Graviton Forfeit (Hunter helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Eye of Another World (Warlock helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Sunshot (Hand Cannon) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
