Our good buddy Xur is back to offer Destiny 2 players a new selection of exotic items. So far, Xur’s inventory has been pretty solid, offering a really popular weapon and some nice armor choices as well. Will the trend continue? Read on to find out.
This week, players can find Xur on Io, the last destination unlocked during the story campaign. Specifically, Xur is hiding in the Giant Scar section of Io, in a cave off the beaten path.
Destiny 2 players may think that they need to travel all the way around to reach Xur, but he is actually tucked inside a cave off to the left in the second open area. Simply walk or sparrow along the wall, and then head into the cavern.
Xur’s Exotic Armor
Xur’s exotic armor inventory this week includes the Hallowfire Heart chest piece for Titans, the Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves gauntlets for Hunters, and the Transversive Steps boots for Warlocks.
Of the three exotic armor options, the Warlock boots are likely the best, offering players increased speed and a steady reload while sprinting. For PvE, the Transversive Steps might not be the best option, but when it comes to The Crucible, where players are constantly sprinting to get in and out of gunfights, the boots can do wonders.
The Hunter gauntlets, on the other hand, are only good for those players that like to use sidearms, but the weapon type already reloads and readies plenty fast. And the Titan chest piece is good for charging up grenades and melee while a Sunbreaker Titan’s Super is charged, but those grenade options aren’t nearly as strong as a Striker Titans.
Xur is selling the Riskrunner exotic submachine gun this week, which is a decent option but we have mixed feelings about the sale. Considering that players can pick up the exotic weapon just by playing the campaign, there are going to be some disappointed to see it show up.
Those that didn’t choose Riskrunner, however, should pick up the submachine gun because it is a fun little weapon to use. Anytime the player takes damage from arc energy, Riskrunner triggers a perk that lets the weapon fire an endless supply of bullets that chain lightning between enemies. Think of it like a smaller version of the Zhalo Supercell, albeit with a few caveats.
