The grind is still on this week in Destiny 2, with many players simultaneously working on both the Tribute Hall and Moments of Triumph additions. The Tribute Hall is positioned as being a long term project for players, featuring challenges that intend to take many players a period of time to complete and another set that have to be purchased with in-game resources.

While players can lower the asking price by completing daily challenges in exchange for items called Boons of Opulence, some players have discovered cheeses and glitches to actually lower the prices much faster than normal. A fix for this is coming on July 30 and while Bungie won't be issuing penalties for those who took part in them, the fix introduces a debt system that tracks the actual number of boons submitted rather than the glitched ones. Unfortunately, this means that the emote and Bad Juju catalyst will lock again until the player legitimately reaches the milestone.

While the Triumph grind continues, the Destiny 2 exotic merchant known as Xur has returned with a new selection of gear and weapons to purchase. Here's where players can find Xur and check out what exotic gear is in his inventory for the weekend of July 19, 2019.

Where is Xur?

Players should head to Io to start the Xur search for this weekend. Head to Giant's Scar to get started.

Once loaded in, immediately head through the building into the area with the large drill in the center. Head left through the gate and follow the edges of the zone to the top left corner of the map where Xur is hiding in a cave.

Class Armor

Xur is on another Forsaken break this week, bringing only year 1 exotics with him. Don't forget that for players unhappy with his selection, they can continue to turn to the Fated Engram for a chance to unlock an exotic from the Forsaken expansion.

Here are Xur's three gear pieces for this weekend:

Starfire Protocol - Warlock chest armor

Another Dawnblade specific gear piece, the Starfire Protocol is focused entirely around fusion grenades. Fusion Harness provides players with 1 extra fusion grenade charge and they also recharge faster when the player makes a kill with an empowered weapon. Fusion grenade kills also recharge the rift ability faster.

While the perks may not sound very exciting, players have found some interesting uses for the armor, especially when it is paired with the Attunement of Grace tree. This support build allows players to use an empowering rift basically letting them have two healing grenades. Plus, the added damage not only recharges the rift but kills made from an empowered weapon also recharge the grenade faster as well. It's not a must have item this week, but it does have its uses.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Restorative OR Mobility
  • Unflinching Hand Cannon Aim, Unflinching Sidearm Aim, Unflinching Machine Gun Aim
  • Pulse Rifle Reserves OR Sidearm Reserves

Aeon Swift - Hunter gauntlets

Easily the most disappointing item in Xur's inventory this week, the Aeon Swift gauntlets are part of the Aeon Cult set. The Swift version grants Grenade energy to Warlocks,  Barricade energy to Titans, Dodge energy to Hunters, once the player wearing the gear dodges. Players not part of the Aeon Cult (those wearing their Aeon gear), receive a fraction of the shared energy.

To be most effective, this set of armor needs other players to be wearing it as well, a fact that doesn't hold up in today's version of Destiny 2. The Hunter has much better options available to them at this point, so the Aeon Swift gauntlets should be left alone outside of people looking to complete their Year 1 collections.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Mobility OR Resilience
  • Shotgun Loader, Impact Induction, Momentum Transfer
  • Grenade Launcher Scavenger OR Rocket Launcher Scavenger

Eternal Warrior - Titan helm

It's been well over a year since players saw this Titan helm make an appearance with Xur. This Striker Titan gear comes with the intrinsic perk Resolute, which gives the player an overshield after Fists of Havoc is activated.

While the helm itself is fine, it's not really needed for a super that is already incredibly strong. Fist of Havoc not only lasts a very long time, it turns the user into a nearly unstoppable tank. As such, the helm is more or less overkill and the player could easily find value in a different exotic item that pairs better.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Restorative OR Mobility
  • Auto Rifle Targeting, Power Weapon Targeting, Enhanced Bow Targeting
  • Fusion Rifle Reserves OR Machine Gun Reserves

Exotic Weapon

Originally a Destiny 2 pre-order bonus, the Coldheart trace rifle is one third of the elemental trace rifles along with Wavesplitter and Prometheus Lens. It's intrinsic perk, Cold Fusion, allows the gun to fire a beam of cold fusion energy. When combined with its other perk called Longest Winter, the beam does increased damage the longer it remains on a target.

While not the strongest weapon out there, Coldheart still retains plenty of value in both sides of the game. It's capable of eating through boss characters, and while it may not replace a trusty grenade launcher or machine gun inside of PvP, there are worse options out there than this linear fusion rifle. For those that don't have it, Coldheart is worth the shards this week.

Additional perks for this weapon are:

  • Extended Barrel
  • Enhanced Battery
  • Hand Laid Stock

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for July 19:

  • Starfire Protocol (Warlock chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Aeon Swift (Hunter gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Eternal Warrior (Titan helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Coldheart (Trace Rifle) - 29 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
