The Destiny 2 community is finally going to start looking forward to visits from Xur again. He'll be receiving some much needed changes, all of which are designed to improve the player experience.

The update to Xur will be coming to Destiny 2 on December 12 -- less than a month away. Once the changes take effect, Guardians will be able to trade Legendary Shards each week for one of the new Fated Engrams. These new Engrams will decrypt into Exotics that aren't already in a player's collection. This will help Xur's usefulness immensely, as his store lately has become rather stale.

Additionally, Xur will be bringing back the Three of Coins. These little beauties were a staple of the original Destiny for their ability to increase the drop rate of Exotics. They're returning with minor adjustments, such as the removal of the confusing stacking mechanic that had Guardians monotonously using them before every boss. The Three of Coins will be available to purchase with Legendary Shards and players can have as many as they would like. Once used, the effects will last for up to four hours.

xur exotic update december destiny 2 bungie

These changes to Xur are a part of numerous important changes developer Bungie is implementing after listening to feedback from players. In a recent update posted to the Bungie website, the company acknowledged its shortcomings and promised to improve the game, starting by communicating better with Destiny players. Bungie then posted a long list of future improvements as a part of that commitment.

Players received another recent development in Destiny 2 as part of Bungie's list of positive changes. Eververse updated its inventory this week to include two popular exotic emotes for sale. Typically, if an emote a player wants isn't in the store, then it's all up to chance that it will drop from Bright Engrams. As this system seems to encourage players to buy Silver, they complained. The store update could be good will from Bungie, or coincidence. Players likely don't care either way.

For Destiny fans who want to take their passion for the series outside of the game, Loot Crate and Bungie are collaborating on a limited edition Destiny 2 crate. What will be in the crate has not been disclosed, but the company did state that it would include an exclusive figure, a hoodie, apparel, and additional collectibles. The Destiny 2 Limited Edition Crate is available for preorder at Loot Crate for $49.99 (plus shipping and handling) and, according to the website, will ship April 2018.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
