It's Friday once again which means that for Destiny 2 fans it's time to start hunting for the exotic salesman known as Xur. For now, Xur remains as he has since the launch of the Forsaken expansion, offering year 1 exotics with special perk rolls. Some hope for change could be on the horizon, however, as fans continue to wait to see what the Xur bounties are during the next season, in addition to the possibility of any Forsaken exotics finally making the cut.

For now. Xur has brought his usual stock of three armor pieces and one weapon. Here's where players can find the merchant as well as what he's offering in Destiny 2 for the weekend of January 25, 2019:

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Xur is holed up in his usual building on Titan.

Fast travel over to The Rig and start running to the back of the zone near the entrance to the Solarium. In the northwest corner of the more open section of The Rig, Xur is hiding out in a small house where the Hive and Fallen sometimes battle each other.

Class Armor

Xur has brought two exotics from the Warmind expansion as well as one item from the base version of Destiny 2 as well.

Transversive Steps - Warlock boots

For many players, the Transversive Steps are an exotic item that they never take off. These exotic boots feature the Strange Protractor perk, which increases sprint speed and automatically reloads the player’s equipped weapon while sprinting. The reload effect kicks in anywhere from 1-3 seconds after sprinting.

This is an item that isn't often offered by Xur and is absolutely worth a pick up this week.

Gear Rolls:

  • Mobility OR Resilience
  • Fusion Rifle Dexterity, Hand Cannon Dexterity, Outreach
  • Scout Rifle Scavenger OR Special Ammo Finder

Fr0st-EE5 - Hunter boots

Pronounced "Frosties," these Hunter boots are a solid choice. Rapid Cooldown increases the regeneration rate when the player sprints, while dodging also increases the player’s sprint speed. For missions that require lots of movement, these boots pair well with particular subclasses that rely on melee abilities such as the Gunslingers Way of a Thousand Cuts.

Being able to recharge the throwing knives by killing burning enemies as well as sprinting makes it so the Hunter has a nearly unlimited supply as long as they hit and kill the target.

Gear Rolls:

  • Resilience OR Mobility
  • Fusion Rifle Dexterity, Hand Cannon Dexterity, Outreach
  • Scout Rifle Scavenger OR Special Ammo Finder

Ashen Wake - Titan gauntlets

An exotic primarily made for fusion grenade users, Ashen Wake armor isn't going to be ideal for most Titan players. Bring the Heat makes fusion grenades explode on impact and gives the player increased throw speed. Fusion grenades were given a buff in August, so the exotics are in a much better state than they were, but Titans do have better choices available to them.

Unlike last week's armor, the Ashen Wake gauntlets are very situational and are not a priority this week.

Fixed Gear Rolls:

  • Resilience OR Recovery
  • Fusion Rifle Loader, Hand Cannon Loader, Impact Induction
  • Sniper Rifle Scavenger OR Machine Gun Scavenger

Exotic Weapon

It's been a while, but the exotic hand cannon Crimson is once again back on sale with Xur. This popular exotic remains in demand even with newer options like Trust, Ace of Spades, and Luna’s Howl to name a few. While its intrinsic perk, Banned Weapon, gives Crimson the ability to fire a three-round burst, the more interesting aspect to this gun is its unique perk Cruel Remedy. Killing an enemy heals the player and precision kills actually refill the magazine.

For those who don't yet own it, Crimson is absolutely worth spending the Legendary Shards this week.

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock for Jan 25:

  • Ashen Wake (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Fr0st-EE5 (Hunter boots) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Transversive Steps (Warlock boots) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Crimson (Hand Cannon) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
