Solstice is now more than halfway through, leaving fans limited time to wrap up any triumphs they may be working on. In addition, Season of the Haunted is also nearing its end, with a big Destiny 2 reveal stream quickly approaching. Not only is it expected that Bungie will reveal the first trailer for the next major expansion Lightfall, but the next season details and Arc 3.0 subclass revisions as well.

In addition to upcoming content, Bungie also revealed new details on the Season 18 raid. While the studio opted not to reveal which Destiny reprised raid it chose to bring back, it did confirm that it will launch on August 26 at 10 AM PT. Even though Bungie has reduced its communication levels due to continued harassment towards its employees, the weekly blog post continues to be a valuable source of details for Destiny 2.

In the meantim, the weekend merchant Xur, who is back again in Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of July 29, 2022.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Destiny 2 players can find Xur back inside the Tower hangar.

From the default landing zone, immediately head to the left and following the path down into the Hangar. After entering the hangar, head left again past Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit crew and up a metal stair case. Xur is standing on a metal platform at the back of this room overlooking the mountain ranges below.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Karnstein Armlets - Warlock gauntlets

It's been about half a year since players last saw them with Xur, but this weekend, the Karnstein Armlets are back in stock. These are a strong Warlock exotic item, that gives the player added survivability thanks to its exotic perk. Upon a melee kill, Vampire’s Caress restores a large portion of health while also continuing to restore health for a short duration afterward.

This is an item that all Warlocks should have as it’s a very strong item in PvE situations and activities like Gambit, Escalation Protocol, or Blind Well where there are large groups of enemies to overcome. There are much better options for PvP players, but it's a fun exotic to play around with otherwise, even with a decent roll on this week's armor.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +19
  • Resilience +10
  • Recovery +3
  • Discipline +14
  • Intellect +7
  • Strength +10
destiny 2 st0mp-ee5 exotic legs

St0mp-EE5 - Hunter leg armor

Also known as the Stompies, these are purely movement based exotics for Hunters. Its intrinsic perk, Hydraulic Boosters, increase player sprint speed and slide distance. In addition, this exotic further improves High Jump, Strafe Jump, and Triple Jump.

For platform heavy activities like Raids or exotic/PvE quests that involve a lot of movement and jumping, these boots can be a lifesaver. While there are much better options for more combat specific modes such as Crucible, the St0mp-EE5 should absolutely be a part of any Hunter's armor rotation. The roll is a bit strange this week as Mobility is one of the lowest stats and this is primarily a mobility based exotic. However, as the highest roll, players can likely make up the difference using mods or perhaps on other armor.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +4
  • Resilience +22
  • Recovery +10
  • Discipline +9
  • Intellect +17
  • Strength +2

ACD/0 Feedback Fence - Titan gauntlets

The intrinsic perk called Fury Conductors build energy when getting melee kills. Being hit by a melee attack not only reduces incoming damage and unleashes the currently stored energy in an explosion.

It may not be the best available Titan exotic, it remains a solid choice especially for those players who enjoy PvP content. Getting punched and causing small explosions is a powerful, fun, and destructive ability to have. Unfortunately, the stat roll for this week is the lowest of the three, so again, it's not a required pickup by any means.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +10
  • Resilience +8
  • Recovery +14
  • Discipline +12
  • Intellect +10
  • Strength +6

Exotic Weapon

For those who enjoy shooting strange objects out of weapons, like the new Parasite exotic grenade launcher, then they'll want to check out The Colony. Insectoid Robot Grenades is its intrinsic perk which causes the weapon to fire grenades that are actually spider robots. Once fired, these devices chase enemy targets (even up/around walls) and explode at close range. As if that isn’t enough, when holstered, the gun refills its magazine as well.

Destiny 2 The Colony Green Skin

For now, this weapon remains a top pick for PvP players thanks to its homing rounds, so The Colony remains an easy recommendation for those who don’t yet have it. Being able to track targets in the Crucible is also incredibly valuable.

Additional perks:

  • Linear Compensator
  • High Velocity Rounds
  • Composite Stock

Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he'll be carrying different rolls.

The Dead Man's Tale exotic scout rifle from Destiny 2.

Dead Man's Tale
