With October finally here, Bungie is brinign back the annual Festival of the Lost event for Destiny 2 players. While Bungie is remaining tight lipped on what to expect at this time, many fans are expecting the Haunted Forest to make a return. Naturally, there's going to be plenty of Halloween themed loot to obtain during Festival of the Lost 2021 and fans have gotten a first look at a Day of the Dead inspired Ghost shell, a collaboration between Bungie and artist Luis Miguel Yepez Franco.

In addition to the return of the Haunted Tower, Bungie is also bringing new challenges to Destiny 2 at reset next week. The weekly Shattered Realm runs are going to be upgraded with a new Legendary difficulty modifier, though as to what exactly this means, Bungie isn't saying. What players do know is that this activity will need to be overcome at least once if the Realmwalker title is going to be obtained.

For now, the weekend exotic gear merchant Xur has once again made his return to Destiny 2 with his newly expanded inventory. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic gear he's brought for the weekend of October 8, 2021.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Destiny 2 players can find Xur on his usual cliff inside of the Winding Cove on the EDZ.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

In Season of the Lost, Xur's role has expanded as the exotic merchant has weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

With Season 15, Xur is now selling even more gear outside of his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer. Better yet, the stat rolls are pretty solid on the Black Armor gear for this week.

Exotic Armor

Winter's Guile - Warlock gauntlets

While this item isn’t subclass specific, it pairs pretty well with Voidwalkers who run Attunement of Hunger. The exotic perk is known as Warlord’s Sigil which increases the player’s melee damage each time an enemy is eliminated by a melee strike. It’s not the most interesting of exotics out there, but it can have its moments of being fairly powerful in PvE and at times in Crucible.

The nice thing about this particular piece of gear is that it comes with Impact Induction, which feeds right back into Warlord’s Sigil. What's unfortunate is that the roll this week has fantastic Recovery and Strength, which really plays into what these exotics can do. Still, it may be better that what some Warlocks have, so it's worth a look.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +7
  • Resilience +6
  • Recovery +20
  • Discipline +2
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +24

The Bombardiers - Hunter leg armor

Hunters can snag The Bombardiers this week, an exotic that was originally added to the game during the Season of the Dawn. These exotic boots come with the perk called Parting gift which leaves behind an explosive with a short fuse after dodging. Thanks to a season 15 buff that impacted a number of Destiny 2 exotics, these now have a secondary effect that happens based on the equipped subclass. Arc blinds, Solar burns, Void suppresses, and Stasis slows enemy targets.

While these were originally a tough item to recommend, the Season 15 update does make them a little more viable than before. However, while there are much better class exotics out there for Hunters, these remain a fun option to play around with. It also helps that the stat roll on this gear is actually pretty good overall. Either way, collectors will no doubt want to pick these up but for everyone else, your mileage may vary with what you get out of these.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +18
  • Resilience +2
  • Recovery +12
  • Discipline +23
  • Intellect +8
  • Strength +2

MK 44. Stand Asides - Titan leg armor

Watch Out is the armor perk on this exotic gear and with it, players get an overshield while sprinting with Seismic Strike, Hammer Strike, or Shield Bash equipped. In addition, hits with these abilities recharge a portion of the player's melee energy.

The value of these boots are based entirely on play style. They're certainly not the best option out there, but could certainly be useful under the right circumstances. As such, they're difficult to recommend for normal play.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +10
  • Resilience +14
  • Recovery +8
  • Discipline +8
  • Intellect +9
  • Strength +13

Exotic Weapon

While Fusion Rifles have proven to be very strong this season thanks to certain perks and mods, the Telesto continues to be a weapon that is on Bungie's naughty list. While the weapon has an exensive history of breaking the game. In fact, the Telesto was just involved in another game breaking issue with the newly revamped Trials of Osiris mode, where players found a way to earn infinite super energy.

The weapon's intrinsic perk is called Unplanned Reprieve which causes fusion projectiles to attach and detonate with a delayed void blast. It's also paired with the Harbinger's Pulse perk which instantly reloads equipped primary and energy weapons after multi-kills with the Telesto. Naturally, it's a great PvE weapon as its sticky explosives cover a wide area and can clear adds very fast. It's a solid PvP weapon as well, though it really shines once the Masterwork catalyst has been applied to increase the ammo reserves.

Additional perks:

  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Alloy Magazines
  • Composite Stock

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's exotic stock in Destiny 2 for October 8, 2021:
