It's the final week for the 2021 edition of Festival of the Lost inside of Destiny 2. Once the weekly reset arrives on Tuesday, the event will have come to a close and all of the spookiness in the game such as the festive Halloween decorated Tower space will be reverted back to normal. Unfortunately, it appears that fans will be waiting a little while for any significant additions as November seems pretty barren outside of smaller things like Iron Banner.

While the game may be entering a small void until the 30th Anniversary celebration and Dawning content arrives in December, that doesn't mean things won't constantly be changing. This week, Bungie outlined plans to continue making improvements to the high-end PvP weekend mode, Trials of Osiris. Part of those plans involve removing the Flawless matchmaking pool completely, instead replacing it with a smarter matchmaking system that creates matches based on current card wins as well as overall wins for that weekend.

While players get ready to reenter the Trials of Osiris this weekend, they should also make time to visit the weekend exotic gear merchant Xur, who has once again made his return to Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic gear he's brought for the weekend of October 29, 2021.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Destiny 2 players can find Xur back inside the Tower hangar.

From the default landing zone, immediately head to the left and following the path down into the Hangar. After entering the hangar, head left again past Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit crew and up a metal stair case. Xur is standing on a metal platform at the back of this room overlooking the mountain ranges below.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

In Season of the Lost, Xur's role has expanded as the exotic merchant has weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

With Season 15, Xur is now selling even more gear outside of his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer. Better yet, the stat rolls are pretty solid on the Black Armor gear for this week.

Exotic Armor

Karnstein Armlets - Warlock gauntlets

It's been about half a year since players last saw them with Xur, but this weekend, the Karnstein Armlets are back in stock. These are a strong Warlock exotic item, that gives the player added survivability thanks to its exotic perk. Upon a melee kill, Vampire’s Caress restores a large portion of health while also continuing to restore health for a short duration afterward.

This is an item that all Warlocks should have as it’s a very strong item in PvE situations and activities like Gambit, Escalation Protocol, or Blind Well where there are large groups of enemies to overcome. There are much better options for PvP players, but it's a fun exotic to play around with otherwise. The stat roll may not be ideal, but it's still better than the Collections version.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +12
  • Resilience +10
  • Recovery +10
  • Discipline +17
  • Intellect +9
  • Strength +2

Shards of Galanor - Hunter gauntlets

First seen at the start of October, the Shards of Galanor are back to close out the month. Sharp Edges is the exotic perk on these and it returns super energy for hits and kills with Blade Barrage once the super ends.

While not nearly as effective as they once were, the Shards are still a viable option for Hunters of like to run Blade Barrage and Way of a Thousand Cuts. It's not going to give back an entire super meter like it used to thanks to a recent Season 15 nerf by Bungie, but it will still help get players back there faster than normal. For Hunters, the roll on these Shards is pretty good and may be worth a look.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +13
  • Resilience +3
  • Recovery +16
  • Discipline +14
  • Intellect +14
  • Strength +2

Antaeus Wards - Titan leg armor

The Antaeus Wards are all about mobility that pairs with an interesting, albeit somewhat tricky mechanic. The intrinsic perk Reflective Vents improves the player’s slide while also reflects incoming projectiles during the slide, though it was nerfed last year to remove the super energy gain on reflection.

The ability may require a slight adjustment period to get the timing down, but once the mechanic is figured out, these boots become extremely valuable. Not only can players reflect bullets, but they are also capable of reflecting supers like Blade Barrage and Nova Bomb. While these used to be a must have item prior to the nerf, they're no longer in that category. However, these boots can be worn with any Titan subclass which makes them extremely versatile as well.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +8
  • Resilience +19
  • Recovery +3
  • Discipline +7
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +20

Exotic Weapon

It's another pulse rifle for sale this week, with the Vigilance Wing being available at Xur. Its intrinsic perk called Hard Truths makes this weapon more unique from traditional pulse rifles as this weapon has a five shot burst instead of the typical three. In addition, the player using the weapon gains instant health regeneration and increased movement speed when a nearby ally is killed due to the trait Last Stand.

The five shot burst along with the fact that pulse rifles are still a very strong weapon type in Destiny 2 makes this a solid weapon to pick up for those who don't yet have one.

  • Corkscrew Rifling
  • Alloy Mag
  • Composite Stock
