Controversy seems to be the name of the game this week in Destiny 2. The community has taken issue with a number of elements though the loudest surrounds the upcoming content inside of The Witch Queen expansion. Players have been debating over the price of the expansions versions as well as the content included in them. The big omission is with the upcoming dungeons, which Bungie has confirmed will not be included within the standard version of Witch Queen.

For now, fans will want to purchase at least the Deluxe Edition of the Witch Queen expansion, which comes with all upcoming seasons, extra content, and the dungeons. There are more than a few fans who are not happy with this decision, not only for the increased cost but the fact that the upcoming Bungie 30th anniversary pack is another $25 on top of that. Thankfully, Bungie has confirmed that there would be other purchase paths for the dungeon content coming at a later date but for now, the Deluxe Edition seems to be the only path.

Outside of the current controversies, players can gear up at the weekend exotic gear merchant Xur, who has once again made his return to Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic gear he's brought for the weekend of October 22, 2021.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Destiny 2 players can find Xur hanging out in his favorite tree on Nessus.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher's Grave. Once loaded in, run forward until the zone opens up. Continue to the back of the zone where a massive tree can be seen. Climb up and Xur will be standing on a large branch.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

In Season of the Lost, Xur's role has expanded as the exotic merchant has weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

With Season 15, Xur is now selling even more gear outside of his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer. Better yet, the stat rolls are pretty solid on the Black Armor gear for this week.

Exotic Armor

Lunafaction Boots - Warlock leg armor

After well over a year, the Lunafaction Boots are available for purchase. At one point in time, Lunafaction Boots were the must have exotic for Warlocks thanks to how helpful there were with overcoming challenging content. With the arrival of the Shadowkeep expansion, the boots recieved a heavy nerf and have since been replaced as the best of the best.

However, they're still viable in certain spots thanks to its exotic perk, Alchemical Etchings, which provides a substantial impact to both rifts. All rifts now gain the added ability to increase weapon reload speeds while Empowering Rift makes weapons more effective over longer ranges. While no longer a required item, the roll on the boots this week pretty solid with the highest stat roll of 65. Unfortunately, mobility is the best stat roll, which isn't the best for Warlocks.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +20
  • Resilience +3
  • Recovery +11
  • Discipline +10
  • Intellect +8
  • Strength +13

Oathkeeper - Hunter gauntlets

For those who enjoy using Bows, the Oathkeeper gauntlets may be a viable option. While they're certainly not exciting or flashy, Adamantine Brace is the intrinsic perk which allows bow charges to be held indefinitely. While it may not sound exciting on paper, what some players may overlook is that the bonus damage granted for immediately firing after fully drawing the bow is actually held indefinitely until fired.

Ultimately, these are a great pick up for only those who regularly use Bows or folks who want to complete their exotic checklist. There are plenty of solid Bows in the game like the exotic Trinity Ghoul and its catalyst these days and better yet, the roll on this item is pretty decent.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +10
  • Resilience +6
  • Recovery +17
  • Discipline +12
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +16

Ursa Furiosa - Titan gauntlets

At one point, the go to exotic for Sentinel TItans, the Ursa Furiosa has seen a couple of nerfs in the past few years. Most recently being impacted by Bungie's decision to nerf super generating exotics that arrived alongside the current Season of the Lost.

Regardless, Ursine Guard is the intrinsic perk which enables the player to move faster when guarding with Sentinel Shield. However, the best part of this perk is that blocked damage will convert into additional super energy once the super ends, similar to other class exotics like the Shards of Galanor for Hunters. As previously mentioned, the returned energy has a cap now, so it's not nearly as useful as it was previously. In addition, similar to the Lunafaction Boots, these exotics have incredibly high mobility, which again, isn't the best stat for Titan players.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +21
  • Resilience +3
  • Recovery +10
  • Discipline +12
  • Intellect +9
  • Strength +12

Exotic Weapon

This week, the pulse rifle known as Graviton Lance is in stock. Black Hole is its exotic perk which gives the second shot of a burst high damage and recoil with no falloff. It synergizes with the Cosmology perk as any kills made with the gun cause enemies to detonate and spawn Void projectiles that track other targets.

After all this time, pulse rifles remain a very strong weapon class in Destiny 2, so this is already a solid weapon. While effective in PvP, this gun really shines when up against multiple enemies for its ability to cause AoE damage.

Additional perks:

  • Hammer Forged Rifling Accurized Rounds Fitted Stock

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's exotic stock in Destiny 2 for October 22, 2021:

  • Oathkeeper (Hunter gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
