This week, Festival of the Lost arrived and brought with it new cosmetics and loot for players to obtain. Dinosaurs are the theme of the event this year, with the Destiny 2 community's vote winner Dinosaur armor finally available for each of the three classes as well as a new pulse rifle named Jurassic Green. In addition, the Haunted Forest has finally been retired in favor of Haunted Lost Sectors narrated by Crow's ghost, Glint. Players will be fighting headless hive enemies as they try and loot plenty of candy in order to obtain all of Eva's masks this year.

In addition to the Festival, Bungie has also been tweaking the seasonal events, Astral Alignment and Shattered Realm. This past reset, the Shattered Realm was given a legendary difficulty modifier, not only giving players a shot at higher stat armor for overcoming the increased challenge, but letting folks claim the associated triumph needed for the seasonal title. Next week, the same difficulty comes to Astral Alignment with rotating modifiers, locked equipment, and more.

Until then, players can gear up at the weekend exotic gear merchant Xur, who has once again made his return to Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic gear he's brought for the weekend of October 15, 2021.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Destiny 2 players can find Xur at the Tower in his mountain view spot.

As usual, fast travel to the main Tower location and head left into the Hangar. Once there, take another left and move past the Dead Orbit section to find a metal staircase. Move up the stairs to find Xur on a platform overlooking the mountain range off in the distance.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

In Season of the Lost, Xur's role has expanded as the exotic merchant has weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

With Season 15, Xur is now selling even more gear outside of his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer. Better yet, the stat rolls are pretty solid on the Black Armor gear for this week.

Exotic Armor

Transversive Steps - Warlock leg armor

Transversive Steps come with the intrinsic perk Strange Protractor which increases sprint speed and automatically reloads the currently equipped weapon after a short time sprinting.

Naturally, these are a universally great option especially in PvP where players are typically running around maps. Not having to take the few seconds to reload a weapon can sometimes mean the difference between winning a gunfight or respawning. The stat roll this week also isn't great, having the lowest total of the three and a really poor recovery stat.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +17
  • Resilience +12
  • Recovery +3
  • Discipline +16
  • Intellect +7
  • Strength +6

St0mp-EE5 - Hunter leg armor

Also known as the Stompies, these are purely movement based exotics for Hunters. Its intrinsic perk, Hydraulic Boosters, increase player sprint speed and slide distance. In addition, this exotic further improves High Jump, Strafe Jump, and Triple Jump.

For platform heavy activities like Raids or exotic quests like Harbinger or Presage, these boots can be a lifesaver. While there are much better options for more combat specific modes such as Crucible, the St0mp-EE5 should absolutely be apart of any Hunter's armor rotation. While these exotics have the highest roll this week, the stat roll on them isn't all that great, which an average mobility, which is a stat that should ideally be high on an exotic like this.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +8
  • Resilience +24
  • Recovery +2
  • Discipline +9
  • Intellect +15
  • Strength +7

Synthoceps - Titan gauntlets

The Synthoceps feature Biotic Enhancements, the item's intrinsic perk, which not only buffs melee range, but also damage when the player is surrounded by enemies. Similar to the Hunter's exotic gauntlets Liar's Handshake, this item can make Titan players very powerful.

While it may not be the best Titan exotic, it's no doubt a fun one to play around with especially in this current season. Similar to the Warlock's Felwinter's Helm exotic, many of the seasonal mods and Warmind Cells can result in room clearing damage when paired with this gear. Ultimately, it's not a required purchase by any means, though it may be worth it for those who want to mess around and have a bit of fun. The roll is fine this week, coming in right between the Warlock and Hunter exotics in terms of total stats.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +17
  • Resilience +3
  • Recovery +10
  • Discipline +12
  • Intellect +9
  • Strength +12

Exotic Weapon

At one time, this sniper was once regarded as one of the best snipers in the game alongside Whisper of the Worm. While it's no longer that, it's still a solid choice even if it's not the go to heavy exotic or even sniper choice these days. It's still able to put up some big damage so players who don't yet have this weapon should feel comfortable about picking it up for a change of pace from the usual heavy weapons.

The intrinsic perk known as Personal Assistant gives the player access to critical information like health and distance when the scope is aimed at an enemy. Synchronizing with that is the exotic trait Target Acquired, which activates when Personal Assistant is used. Essentially, it gives the weapon better target acquisition and deals significantly more precision damage.

Additional perks:

  • Extended Barrel
  • Extended Mag
  • Short Action Stock
